WOW!!! I just got to see a live Droid X at my local VZW store. Very 1st impression is..................definitely not too big!
I headed over to the store to see a "dummy" version that I was told they got in today. As I waited to talk to the rep, I looked over and saw another customer holding a Droid X. I got all giddy, like a child on Xmas morning.
The customer handed the phone over to the salesman and I asked if I could hold it.......
I was concerned that to was going to be too big, but it is not an issue at all. Like others have said, it feels smaller than it is. the phone is very thin and it is no issue in a pair of slacks front pocket. Coming from an S1, the DX is lighter than the S1, so, even more so, it felt fine in my pocket.
The touch screen is flawless and the scrolling from page to page is perfectly smooth. and the hard keys at the bottom are nice and tight...not wobbly like some others have said.
The other item I checked out was the camera. It has a 2 postion button, like most decent cameras. press half way down to focus and then press the rest of way down to take the shot. There was no delay in snapping the picture. I could see if someone just pressed the button all the way down, there might be a delay as the phone tries to focus before taking the picture.
This phone wasn't activated so I couldn't really do much...just admire its beauty, so to speak.
The VZw rep said they recevied their 1st shipment of Xs today and will be receiving more everyday. His thoughts were that they should have plenty of phones for the 1st couple of weeks after launch!
Sorry....I don't have a pictures of my encounter......don't flame.
I didn't want to be too much of a homer by whipping out my Blackberry to take a picture of a cell phone with my cell phone. I had to maintain some small amount of dignity.......I am supposed to be a mature 30-something adult!
