No problem. You can get started now. I would start by d/led the free ones, because with the paid, in order to get a refund, it would have to be within 24 hours of purchasing (this is what I was told). I believe you can use AppBrain to do so. Ensure it will be your primary gmail that you use.

I just ordered a MOTO DROID and it should be here wednesday. What apps and accessories other than a screen protector should I get?

For me, I love my window mount. Not the one that is case/mount. The plian old window mount is PERFECT! I heard some people rave about the Seidio window mount/case combo as well.

Just on this thread - I would recommend NOT installing a task killer. My phone actually runs faster because of it. There are a bunch of threads on android central that will discuss why in further detail.

For a clock/weather/calender shortcut, get Beautiful Widgets.

For Twitter, I use Twidgit. It's a nice, free, widget for your phone. I don't do much tweeting, just following/reading, so it's good for that.

Find the News and Weather .apk for a good News/Weather widget.

Google Listen is good for downloading, organizing, and playing podcasts.

iMusic will (illegally, in most cases) find music for you.

3Banana is good for note taking, reminders, etc. Has a nice widget, too.

A lot of people use Handcent or Chomp SMS for texts - I, however, find the standard messaging app easy to use and a lot faster to open.

On this, you actually are OK if you don't get a screen protector. I have one for my phone, but the Droid has Gorilla Glass, which is super strong tempered glass. A lot of users on AC go without a screen protector, with no problems.

Also, getting the Dock is a good idea if you want the phone as a clock and alarm clock. I use it all the time (and it also comes with a second charging cord, a nice bonus).

dapke36, why shouldn't I download an advanced task manager? And also, is there any way to set the cpu without "rooting" the phone, whatever that means?

phone closes tasks by itself because it's smart, and no you can't set the CPU without rooting(this means making it run faster than it was designed/rated to)

You login into the website, and look at your apps and near the bottom of the page there's a BBCode to paste onto forums.
