So I just ordered my DX, it is supposed to ship on 9/10 but I've heard it can ship sooner! I'm coming from a blackberry tour so we will see how it goes!!!

Welcome to the club! I came from a Blackberry Curve and never looked back.

I ordered mine on Thursday night and my ship date was also supposed to be by 9/10. I rode out the first gen Blackberry Storm so I feel like it should ship with a medal...I ordered online should I be getting an email when it ships so I know if it ships sooner?

Coming from a Blackberry, its gonna rock you pretty good. I laugh at how limited a Blackberry is by comparison.

I haven't even thought about my bb curve since getting my x. You made a wise decision my friend

Should ship early.... I ordered mine on the 16th of Aug had a ship date of the 30th and got it the 24th hopefully you paid for overnight shipping though. I got my shipping information on the thur before that and had to wasn't until tues to receive it.....want to talk about a long weekend that one felt like it would never end.

You know, email and messaging are supposed to be BlackBerry's forte, but I have to say that email (especially GMail) is IMO much more robust and easier to manage on the Droid.

I think you'll be very happy with the X. I know I am. :)

Speaking of email... One of the things that has really impressed me with the DX over the many BBs I've had is taking advantage of Gmail ... I really think this is a sample of how things are going in the tech works for consumers.

With Gmail operational (which it has to be to operate the X), you can have this one source download ALL your email, even from pop 3 servers that most of us have, & deliver it pushed to the X and synced to your computer and X instantaneously, PLUS doing the same for your calendar AND contacts... whether its from an Outlook calendar or the Google one. You will quickly realize you really don't need Outlook.

And you will no longer be involved with a desktop program to do housekeeping tasks. Do it direct on the X. Apps are available for just about anything. You won't be sorry to leave the BB behind, I'm sorry to say. I was a great BB fan.

Welcome to Options!

WHOA! Original Storm  You got a lot to look forward to with your Droid X.

I came from WinMo to a Blackberry Curve to a Storm 1 to a Storm 2. The S2 was ok and did well with the 713 OS, but just felt limiting and slow. Nothing too much to complain about, but I know how you feel.

Here's a word of caution, go slow when you get the DX. You have so many choices that you just want to load them all up but what you'll probably feel is app overload and just become confused. Do some research, read all reviews carefully. The last part is important. Sometimes people will rate and review an app based on what they thought it should do and not what it actually does. So even though it has a middle of the road rating, it may be just what you're looking for. I've got a few apps on my DX that are rated in the middle, but work just fine for me.

So far there have only been a few things that I want to do that I can't (yet) that I could do in the BB world. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I figure out how to do it. All the big issues I've been able to solve pretty much on my own with a lot of trial and error, but that's the nice thing about the DX, it's pretty robust and forgiving.:o

Enjoy and welcome to possibilities! :D
