I just ordered a Pixel 2 from the Google Store.

Now I've been reading all the people ******** about multiple problems and the general uselessness of Google Customer Service.

Should I be getting nervous, or are they as good as everyone makes them sound?

All phones have issues and my experience with Google service has been stellar.

Should you have decided before ordering? Yes. Because no one wants another person here posting about the "known issues."
 
phones are great .just remember people usually hit the forums when something is wrong more than when everything is great . but I had an issue and Google support was great .some of the bad things people are getting seem to be with trade ins.

My GF and I both ordered our Pixel 2 phones in October. Hers crashed consistently when using the front camera. Mine had volume and power buttons that were nearly flush with the chassis. It took her 2 quick calls with Google support (once to factory reset, the second to verify problem was still there) and Google overnighted her replacement.

I went with the built-in text-based chat function on my phone and it took about 15-20 minutes of chatting before getting my replacement shipped.

So, yeah...pretty good experiences with Google support.
 
I have always had great experience with Google support and the phone itself. But it always depends on person to person. Some people always tend to have bad luck with their devices and support.
Worst case they have a good return policy so you can always return.
 
I've only had mine since boxing day. I love it. As bsannes said, most people post when things go wrong, not right. Did you get the XL or regular? Most issues I have seen are about the XL screen.

Read any forum for any phone and you'll find complaints.. so no. Get the device and decide for yourself.

Three Pixel 2 XL's in my family since early December. All three of us love them. Keep finding more stuff we like about the phone.

No, you should not be getting nervous. You should be getting excited.
 
Really enjoy using my P2. Best phone so far. As for Google service I only needed them once to return a 6P and that experience was smooth as silk. I did use the chat feature once and that was pretty cool. Nice feature.
 
I ordered my Pixel 2 XL 128 directly from Google when it first launched. I love it. I've had all the Google phones since since they started. This is the best one yet! I've never had a problem with any of them. My first priority is the camera and it's the best one out there. I use Google Play Music quite a bit and bought a high quality wireless headset so I don't miss not having a headphone jack at all.
 
Thanks to all who have responded so far.

I am quite excited about it, and anxious for it to arrive.

The three OS updates, through at least Android R, and all pertinent security updates pushed me over the edge, as well as the pure Android without bloatware, which I loathe.

My experience with Google support has been stellar. They swapped my OG Pixel no issues and helped me sort out an issue with my Pixel 2 as well over phone and directly on chat on the Pixel 2 device as well.

I too had a bit of anxiety given SOME of the feedback and took the plunge anyways. Glad I did - completely trouble free purchase including the old phone turn-in for credit and the $100 Google Store credit. Could not have asked for a more smooth process - I hope you have the same results!
 
They are definitely as good as you've heard!

I wouldn't worry - some people are more likely to post about negative issues/reviews of products than they are to post praise reports and positive reviews of said products. But if you look around the forums, you'll see there are a lot of satisfied Pixel 2 users here! Do not worry!
