Hey guys,

Don't think AC has posted anything about this yet: Select GameStop stores will provide hands-on time with the Transformer Prime this weekend | Android and Me

Just got back from a nearby Gamestop and got some good hands-on time with the Prime. They had it set up next to the original TF, a Galaxy Tab 10.1, and some little Acer Iconia. One thing I was worried about was the screen not being quite as nice as the Galaxy Tab's, but I liked it just as much :) It was definitely smoother and quicker. I popped in my microSD card and ran through a PowerPoint, some videos, etc, and it handled them all well :) Looked and felt quite thin and light next to my iPad 1 :)

If you don't feel like reading the article, here's a store finder to see if there's one near you: Tablets | GameStop

in one of the youtube unboxing videos the guy says that display matrix grid is noticeable under the light and certain angle. did you notice anything like that at all? does the display have a clarity and color crispness simular to ipad 2? and how is the touch responsiveness? I had a problem with original TF because it was not very responsive to touches thats why i had to return it back to bb. thank you.
Edit: also is there any light bleeding issues like it was on original TF? thanks.

Hey there,

Didn't notice any matrix grid or light bleed but don't base your decision off my reply - I didn't look too closely for either. Was more interested in whether the screen looked "nicer" than the original TF and if the Galaxy Tab actually looked a lot better than the Prime (as CNET claimed). Luckily, it both did look nicer than the OG TF and didn't look worse than the Galaxy Tab, at least in that setting, to my eyes. My friend that was with me shared that opinion :)

Responded well to my touch :) didn't directly compare it to an iPad 2 screen so i can't really comment, but i was happy with it, and my friend who was with me is selling his iPad 2 to get one :)

thanks alot for your feedback! I'm also selling my ipad 2 and preordered TF Prime from bb :)

I believe in one of the spec sheets they mentioned the response time had been lowered to around 50ms, as previously the TF had 100ms+ as did other tablets (I may be wrong on the initial TF response number).

I'm trying to decide whether to go 82.2 miles away and check out the hands-on time with it. I'm disappointed it's not closer...just means i'll have to go while the other is at work ! O:-)

Trevalkin, you should look at AnandTech's review. The screen outperforms the iPad 2's display based on the benchmarks they posted. You can take a look here: AnandTech - ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime & NVIDIA Tegra 3 Review None of the reviews I've read have said anything about the matrix grid, though.

I've read that review:) I've actually read and seen almost every review by all credible sources:) But seeing is believing right?:) Hopefully if my order from BB wont be backordered I'll see it myself very soon. This is the review where the guy mentions about seeing "the touch screen interface" at certain angle. watch from 7:20 ASUS Transformer Prime Tegra 3 Tablet Unboxing & First Look Linus Tech Tips - YouTube Although he admits that it isnt as noticeable as on other tablets, he doesnt mention Ipad 2 and I have Ipad 2 and I must say that it is reaaaaaaaaly hard to see touch screen dots on the Ipad's panel you have to be looking really hard under the light and angle. I've also seen other tablets and touch grid is more noticeable on them (Archos for example) I know I sound very picky but I had serious issues with original TF's display and had to return it back to BB. So I'm hoping this time Asus got it right :)

II'll be in the city this week and there are two Game Stop stores so hopefully if I'll have time I'll check it out :)

That was a nice review. Thanks for posting a link to it. It does seem that the touch screen interface is not that easy to see on this tablet either. He had to hit the light at a very particular angle to see it. I have also noted comments on other reviews that this display is significantly better than that of the original Transformer with no bleeding, etc. So, keep your hopes up because they seem to have done an even better job with this 2nd generation Transformer. :)
