Just purchased an Honor 8, setup tips

Hi everyone,
Just purchased an Honor 8 from Amazon, such a great deal. So I'm new to this area of the AC forums. I'll be moving from a Galaxy s5, and I have heard that EMUI is much different. I'm looking forward to playing around with it but seeing if there are any good tips for setting up the phone or any suggestions.

Of you're used to touchwiz I'd probably recommend a custom launcher like nova to be able to set up your homescreeb and have an app drawer until the android 7 update is pushed.

After installing your apps, go to battery manager and whitelist apps you want notifications from.

I hope you'll like your Honor 8. What color did you get?

Thanks, I got midnight black....It was a tough choice between the blue.

Seeing the blue is what made me research the device before I bought so it was a no brainer for me lol

@William - welcome to the 'midnight black' club! (I have one too). Hope you're liking the phone. Installing a custom launcher is probably not a bad way to go, but I'd recommend using EMUI for awhile to see if you love/hate it. In my opinion it has come quite a ways from where it was back when I picked up a 5X.

Thanks, looking forward to using it. I plan on trying EMUI first to gain my opinion on it. Worse case I can go with Nova or Google which I'm currently using. Do you have any recommendations for a screen protector? It's seems the reviews online mention that curved glass makes it very difficult.

I haven't used it myself but another member said this one had no halo
