Just realized today is 9/11

I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and remember those who lost their lives on 9/11.

no offence bro, i like u a lot but i go on geek forums for escapism. also this is a global forum and many may have different views on how deserved that war starter was.

Yeah, you might be right. No offense taken. :)

Trust me, this thread is more welcome than your typical 'iPhone converts get some!'/'My battery died after using my phone a a lot!' thread.

War related crap aside, it's good for us to mourn that horrendous event in any capacity. Be it on AC or otherwise.

Thousands of people STILL died. It's a matter of respect. They weren't soldiers, sailors, Marines, Airmen, or anything else.

They were CIVILIANS.

Yeah I'm sure that a lot of the people that were murdered 11 years ago were pacifists too.

I support this thread. Being an American citizen, I don't feel this thread to be inappropriate in any forum involving other Americans.

It's not politics. It's a day for remembrance.

Exactly as stated previously, the people that died were civilians.

I am not a pacifist and am glad that events took place to capture Osama Bin Laden. He masterminded/payrolled these attacks, he deserved to be brought to justice for the crimes he committed. You can say that he was a foreign national and doesn't deserve to be tried by our legal system, but he was tried and executed in the minds of all the families or loved ones of all that died on that day.

The people killed didn't deserve to be included in an attack of this nature, but as we see in incidents across the globe, on what appears to be a daily basis, no one does. To include innocents in any attack is a sign of cowardice, as they are unarmed and a non threat. A way to rack up huge body counts like it is some kind of video game, but all it does is make citizens like myself angry to the point that we want to push the button that launches the missile to erase the offender.

Every country has had their ways of dealing with criminals over time, it is just in this day and age that we have to go to foreign countries to apprehend the criminals.

I for one am not ashamed to say that i love my country, as everyone should, and i back the decisions made to capture or kill Bin Laden for crimes committed against these United States of America.

So remembering the many innocent lives lost and acknowledging the brave souls who sacrificed their lives trying to save others is somehow being insensitive to the feelings of those who, in their warped sense of logic or justice, may feel that these people "deserved" it? With all due respect, as someone who lost many friends on 9/11 and saw the impact on their families, there is never a "wrong place" to remember our loss. We as Americans, and I would hope as human beings, carry them in our hearts always.

You can honor those who died on the tragic day of 9/11 who were innocent and not have to discuss the war and no one has to participate if they don't want to. but I do understand your point.

i really dont wana argue but can we also rememember the thousands of innocent men, women and children killed in afghanistan, pakistan, etc in the messy search for bin laden to keep things fair. Glasgow arport (about a mile from me) was also attacked but i still dont agree with indescriminate drone strikes etc.
of course i feel empathy for the familys of those who died that day.. ill never forget that day... but im not blind to other attrocities carried out by the UN.
sorry if i offended anyone x x

Deserved? Very insensitive. Your "handle" says it all.

i said "how deserved" meaning a lot of cultures would see it as being deserved. i dont agree with any attacks on civilians but a lot of people in the US (and the UK) seem blind to the fact that theyve funded terrorsm and committed war crimes. i dont wana disrepect anyone but that brutal attack on the US should have opened peoples eyes to foreign affairs instead of creating a nation of warmongers.
im scottish of irish descent and support the irish unionist cause but a lot of the IRA's funding came from the US and helped them bomb innocents in london and the north of ireland. now the US+UK want to help the rebels in Syria. who are we to decide whats right and wrong. Through our arm-chair terrorism we've caused death all over the planet. ill say it again.. i DONT support the attacks on 9/11 but im not surprised that it happened. the CIA were happy to arm and train the..... i cant spell the name of them lol... in afghanistan fighting russia and its these fighters who went on to become al quaida. i just want people to think about cause and effect. we were lied to that Iraq had WMD.
look i dont wana upset anyone so ill stay out of this thread and if any of the Mods think im trolling then im sorry, i just want the general public to learn something from 9/11 so those people didnt die in vain.
PEACE x
