Just replaced battery, it could have been easier...

just a few comments on replacing the battery...

just replaced the battery on my Gear S2 classic. I watched a five part youtube video for the s2 classic and during the fifth part, found out it was not for the s2 classic. they never did show the front of the watch until the end. oh well. The hardest part was getting the back off the watch. Kind of messed up the opener that came with the battery - cheap plastic. After I took a hammer and chisel. I mean a jewellers itsy bitsy screwdriver to it, I was finally able to force it open. the rest of the operation was a snap.

Had that watch almost five years and got my first scratch on the side trying to pry the back off. Oh well. Now I just have to calibrate the battery with the next couple of charges and hopefully the battery will last a lot longer than around 17 hours.

I also put a new band on the watch for a different look. maybe it will keep me from getting a new watch a while longer.

I've got the old Gear 2 with camera and ir blaster built in. There is a restaurant I go to with a little tv in every booth so I use the watch to change the channel from Keno to CNN. I would love to change the battery but I'm all thumbs even if I could find the battery for it. Samsung would do it for more than a paid for the watch!

do a search on amazon with the model number. you should be ablet o find it there. tools should come with it to help keep your thumbs out of the way. I was a bit worry myself because of my fat fingers and a couple other old age issues but it surprised me.

Nah. I'd rather have a 7 hour watch than a bunch of parts on a table. I really have zero put things together again skills. I usually break it while taking it apart whatever it is. Often soldering is required and I don't need to burn myself while the battery explodes and blinds me.

It is simple, open the back and remove the battery. the battery was on top of everything unlike the gear s2 wherd I had to remove the motherboard. No soldering anyway it is your loss if you don't want to give it a try, though it is always a good excuse to get a new toy I was seriously considering getting the new samsung watch that will be announced next week because I was also concerned about messing with the battery. Not anymore.

Thanks for the research! I could see exactly where I would break it. The part where I "carefully remove the battery connection wire with the tip of the spudger tool". If you've done that 10 times it is easy. For me the first time will result in a broken contact with wire stuck in it.

Just as well because the nearest replacements I found in ebay are in China and won't get here before October. No replacements in Amazon. I bet the replacement batteries have been left discharged for 5 years minimum.

Throw away culture.

wow, the new battery surprised me. I took it off the charger Saturday night around 9pm and have 9 percent left Wednesday morning after 3am. Waiting for it to hit five percent before charging again. I don't think the original battery lasted that long new.
