I joined Android Central so I could root my Optimus V... and mission accomplished!
I wasn't really looking for a radical change or a huge performance boost; I just wanted to get rid of the bloatware crapola Virgin saddled the phone with. Went ahead and flashed Gingerbread (CyanogenMod 7.1 IHO Purity), and so far, I'm really pleased with the results. It's like having a whole new phone!
I'm fairly tech-savvy, but not a hacker by any stretch of the imagination. I chipped my PSX and Xbox back in the day, and even installed an aftermarket backlight in my first Gameboy Advance, but messing with my phone was a little more daunting.
I'm a writer by trade and a dilettante in many other fields. Because I have so many interests, I seldom find the time to finish all the little projects I start.
