Just thought I'd weigh in on this since one of my IT clients called me in to activate/setup 4 of his new Moto Droid 3s. They are nice phones. But wouldn't trade them for my TBolt.

-Not as responsive (even with Dual Core!)
-Not 4G (what's the point?)
-Freeze once in a while, requiring restart (never had that happen with my TBolt)
-Didn't try the physical slide-out keyboard, I just used the on-screen keyboard. It was okay, but not as good as the TBolt
-The menu buttons were very weird. Half the time they didn't work. You had to hit the return button 2, 3, or 4 times before it would return??? What's up with that?
-Interface is not as intuitive as HTC Sense

Having said that, the form factor of 4 inch screen was nice, and the slide out keyboard mechanism seemed very well built. The whole phone, mechanically, felt well built. I feel I could move to a 4 inch screen in the future. Admittedly the text on the screen was a little smaller though - for those of us over 50 :) . Felt very good in the hand without being too large. And I did like the "clean" feeling about the phone (i.e. no HTC Sense - although I like Sense :) ).

Anyway... that's my 2-cents from my brief setup experience.

-Frank

yeah, i've had a similar experience messing around with my friend's atrix. every now and then there's this annoying lag when moving between apps. it's hard to explain but it's definitely there. you're in a web page and then hit the home button to go back to the home screen. then you hit the browser icon to go back and there's an annoying 3 second lag before the browser pops back up. the hardware is solid (dual core) so i'm guessing it's software related.

every phone has its quirks i guess but the TB stacks up pretty well to most other android devices i've had a chance to play with. i spent 10 minutes playing with a coworker's htc sensation the other day. now that's a nice phone. very premium feel to it.

My wife got a D3 for the keyboard. But, the laggy response on the back button was a deal killer. So, she swapped it out for a Tbolt and likes it much better.
