Just spitballing about battery life here.

Do you use a lot of them with the screen off? That would change the ratio. Perhaps you have a lot going on overnight. I done close anything down at night, but I don't have a lot of sync'ing and stuff happening.

Does anyone besides me think that the rapid charging 2.0 amp charger and the heat it generates may cause a quicker deterioration of the battery life than slower chargers. That's my impression. Batteries are cheap enough that I don't care. I replaced my original battery after only 6 months and see a great improvement in usage time with the new one.

I'm not sure if there's significant heat happening at the battery. Here's my most recent graph. The first part of the rise is using my 1.0 Anker portable battery. The last spike is the 2.0 stock charger. It is higher but not massively higher. Perhaps it's a contributor though. There might be something going on with way that the higher charge affects the battery at a more basic level.

Sombody complaining their battery life on one of the biggest smartphones went from 24 hours to 22 hours lol,, ok then,, I'm out of this absurd discussion. Lol

Note 3 SIZE IS EVERYTHING

Jeez, I wasn't "complaining" any more than I called my battery life "bad". It was you who seems to have made the "absurd" curve, what with your 6 battery routine and missing the point of my original post, as well as putting words in my mouth that I never said or implied.

PS, need to work on your math as well. You talk about 5 batteries not costing $50 after advising me to pick up Anker replacement batteries at $10 a pop and bragging that you got 3 for $25. Lol.

My point, since you missed because you apparently were changing a battery at the time, was that the recent spate of "bad battery life posts" might have as much to do with the "biggest smartphones" aspect as app operation. This is something that hasn't been mentioned up to now.

And, "being a slave to the charger"? Yeah, I want to remove the case, unsnap the back, remove the old battery, grab a loose battery, replace it, snap the back back on, replace the case and get in with my business. Not. I'd rather do what I did an hour ago - just plug the darn thing in. I'm posting this tethered to my charger with no ill effects. I barely even know it's plugged in as I post this while watching Algeria score three quick goals against S. Korea.

PS, this is the first smartphone I've owned that has had this sort of decline at the 6 month mark. Therefore it was worth looking at.

PPS, amazing that it took you 20 posts to recognize the drop from 24 to 22 that I mentioned in my original post. Of course, you translated "slipping" into "so bad" so I'm not surprised.

Right, so I've been messing about with my Note 3 a bit... Rooted, greenified a few apps, removed bloatware and so on...

This is the first charge sine doing so, and must say I'm quite happy with the result.

I know it's a bit offtopic, but still... If my battery worsens over time then I'll buy a new battery. This Phone still massively impresses me.

Oh yeah, sorry about the app I "covered up" . It's under development and I am not at liberty to show anything about it... Not even the icon.

That's really good battery life. The best I've been able to do is around 25 hours, but that was running it down to around 10%. But I'm pretty casual about tweaking other than rooting and keeping my screen at about 40%.

Yeah, I'm quite surprised by it as well.. I've held off rooting, but was just not happy with battery life... I do have a ZeroLemon 10.000 mah battery too, but the size of that thing means it's a no-go for me on a daily basis...

So yeah, I rooted, greenified a LOT of apps, and removed a lot of bloatware... I'm quite sure I can better it still, but as it is now, I'm happy. I mean, if this sticks, then I'll be looking at over 8 hours of screen time. 8 hours!

I'll give it a few days to see if I was just lucky, it being over the weekend and all... Lets see if the great battery life sticks during work days as well :)

Also, note that "held awake" is at 0.5%... I've never been anywhere near that previously.

This thread just made me order a new battery! 😉👌

I am about to choose either an Anker at £13 or a Samsung at £10.

I got 2 days+ and 8 hours screen over a weekend wirh light intermittent use, but if I use the screen for a steady 2 hours browsing in the afternoon the battery drops off a cliff still, and as I am out and about and often away from a car, I can't depend on getting a normal days use now. I always need access to a charger. So I need 2 batteries like I did with my Galaxy S2 that had far less screen time.
A bigger battery for my pocket, but now essential.

Yeah, I'm beginning to think that it's probably going to turn out that the average Note 3 owner should probably plan on getting a replacement battery around 6 months and use it occasionally as a swap out unit. After all, it's not like the old battery is bad, it just might not have a much battery life. That way, if the battery starts to drop quickly, they already have an almost new replacement.

I've already noticed in an almost 10% drop-off of battery life average. That's not a disaster but it's not insignificant either.

My S2 batteries lost something over time.
Brings me back to my 1st post. I can't see anywhere that tells you that the battery has 3200 mah available.

I received my new battery today, pulled my SD card, reinstalled everything and then charged the new battery to 100%.
I replaced my old battery after 5 months of heavy use.
The new battery seemed to take a charge faster and is holding on to the charge longer!
All is good so far!!! 👍
Maybe KitKat wasn't the problem, maybe I just needed a fresh battery! 😉

This seems to support my hypothesis.

I'm guessing that the incredible power of the device and the demands that it places on the battery reduces the battery's functional life.

This isn't a criticism, just a statement of what we should expect if we take advantage of all of the possibilities of the device.

And maybe we're blaming something that doesn't have a lot to do with battery life. Maybe KK just came along at the time that the battery was starting a decline.

We find this unusual because previous phones had batteries that kept their full strength well into the second year. Fortunately for us, batteries are cheap and easily replaced.

Of course, this is still just a hypothesis.
