And I didn't hate it. It's a little strange that you still need to swipe up on the lockscreen to officially unlock the phone; but this helps ward off against accidental unlocking. I imagine it'll be handy for when I'm in a hurry and may not have a steady finger on my screen.

I do like that Samsung allows you to "show yourself" with your glasses on and also with them off so as to get a clearer picture of your likeness while setting up Face Unlock. I wear glasses about 70% of the time (depending on the day), so I'm happy that my phone will recognize my face, with or without glasses.

In any case, I'll try it out for a little while, along with my in-display fingerprint sensor, to see how I like it. I still prefer fingerprint scanners/in-display fingerprint readers, but if the future of smartphone biometric tech is Face Unlock, I guess I want to be able to use it in case it's all that's left after a while!

You can bypass the swipe to unlock in face recognition settings by deselecting stay on lock screen.

I've also been using Face Unlock, and it works well for me with and without spectacles.

Face lock works, and is faster/easier than the silly in-screen fingerprint sensor which is the worst idea in the world, but nothing beats the rear FPS on the Galaxy S9 series. Talk about fast--it was instant.

I do miss my rear fingerprint scanner on my Pixel 2. I do like the speed of the S10's sensor but I'm trying to get used to Face Unlock. Maybe I'll try both for a time and see what happens.

I've been using face unlock on every iPhone since iPhone X and I strongly prefer it over any fingerprint sensor. I'm glad face unlock has made its way to Android and I hope more OEMs adopt it into their phones.

It definitely has its advantages! I like it but I'm still preferring fingerprint sensors - in-display or otherwise. Sometimes I forget I even have Face Unlock enabled - I guess I need to play with it a little bit more to get a better opinion of it.

I set my face unlock up before the release of Android 10 and I only have one pic in there and it unlocks for me with safety glasses and a beard net on. I know it's not true face unlock, well I guess it is true just not secure face unlock, but I do miss my rear fingerprint scanner. Would prefer that over the in screen one just because it was more natural to place my finger back there when holding the device and I don't think the in screen one works all that well. I've done the different angle setup and tried to get the majority of my thumb in there but probably about 60% of the time I have to reposition my thumb to get in and 10 to 15% of the time I just give up and swipe my pattern. OK maybe a little less than that but still it's not all that great for me.

I've been having success with my in-display fingerprint reader, but I know that a lot of users haven't. I too miss my rear fingerprint scanner - you're right about it being a more natural movement of your finger when you pick up your phone. Hopefully the S20 line will improve their in-display fingerprint scanners.

When I heard about the S20 I seriously considered it, well not that seriously because of the price, but when I heard that people had gotten up to 50% off when they turned in their S9's for the S10, I started considering it. I mean I'm half way through paying for my S10 and if I could get 50% of that back on a new beefed up device... Yeah why not. Anyway I say all of this to the point that this got me watching review and comparison videos between the two and there are a lot of pumped up features in the new model but the FPR is the same one as the S10. It may have some new software but it isn't any bigger or faster.

This is one of favorite reviewers. I like his reviews because he doesn't just fluff it up. He seems to talk about the bad and not so good things too.

I can see what you're saying. Getting 50% off your current device for the next iteration is certainly tempting.

It's also pretty crazy how the fingerprint scanner on the S20 is still very similar to the S10.

Thank you for that review video! I am excited to watch it! I too like reviewers who are more neutral in their, well, reviews!
