Anyone else running into this? I tried to preorder at a radio shack in Columbia, Mo and was told that they had recieved notification this morning that they would not be taking any more pre-orders for the EVO 4G. I then called the BestBuy and they said that the deadline for the first release was May 21st and that I would only be able to pre order for the 2nd release on June 9th. Is anyone else hearing something similar?

RS pre-orders end today. You can still pre-order at Best Buy but for the 2nd shipment.

Looks like you may need to get to a Sprint store really early on the 4th

Just wait at the front of the Sprint store on 6/4, like iPhone launch ;)

Someone I doubt there will be more people like iPhone did.. Who knows :)

Radioshack did say that they would have a couple of phones available on a first come first serve basis. I may give that a shot. I don't want to deal with the rebate.

Yeah we have had to start turning folks away at my RadioShack today. Kind of sucks really lol. We will prolly have a few extra phones besides what was pre-ordered, but of course there is no official word on this. My advice would be just show up early, and see if there is any surplus.

On a side note my Shack will be opening at 6am on release day.

Yep, my RS said the same thing. I pre ordered my second Evo yesterday....just in time!

Probably means they have run out of inventory for launch day.

I'm so glad I reserved mine a couple days ago.

Radio Shack's EVO ad says 5/31 as the deadline. What gives?

It was only going to end that late if we still had enough inventory for everyone. This was communicated to us a lot by the higher ups. I would still try to pop in on launch to see if there was any extras sent to the stores.

I called over to the store (small store/small town) and they confirmed the pre-order period had ended. I asked how many were pre-ordered and he said none. However, he did say they will have a limited quantity on hand June 4th and to be early. He mentioned that they did get some phone calls inquiring about the device, but no takers on the pre-order.

In a way I'm not too disappointed because I didn't have to commit $50 on a device I've never laid my hands on. I'm still skeptical about the size and whether or not it might be bigger than I want.

I wonder if this means that demand for this phone is higher than expected. The Sprint CEO said that product availability wouldn't be an issue like what happened with the Pre.

It's that or Sprint is keeping the majority of the stock for it's own stores.

My BB said they would have a few extras for walk-ins. They said they would set aside the amount of phones that had been pre-ordered and then have a few to sell to walk-ins.

I stopped at a RS tonight to see if they had a dummy (they did) and they told me the pre-orders stopped yesterday. They're opening at 6 am. Didn't say anything about quantities. I'd like to think that if they had 5000 units to give away as swag at Google I/O last week, they've got enough to handle the launch window.

best buy still is taking preorders for a june 9th delivery. other than waiting in line early in the morning at a sprint store, that is a pretty solid bet to get one without spending hours hunting.

i work at rs in norcal and yes we actually sold through our alotted amount on preorders. dont let your rs's fool you. from the web mail today each store is only allocated 1 to 2 for walkins and then the preorders. in my stores case we will get the one allocated and then the one preorder, whos is ironically mine =D none the less the allocated EVOs are first come first serve! so get there first! ;)

Radio Shack's EVO ad says 5/31 as the deadline. What gives?

Small print on the ad also stated "While supplies last" sadly :(

I had a few very puppy faced people today. One who blew up in my store thinking I was lying to him about it. Honestly though, acting like that as a grown man he didn't deserve it anyways.

Also dont let anyone mislead you. No one knows just how many we'll be getting in store. We know all stores show a minimum of 1 on hand requested, but nothing is in transit at the moment.

We did 12 pre orders here, I honestly only expect to see 13 shipped to me. I'd love more, specially since I did so many more pre-orders than many other stores in my area. But what can you do.
