Ok, here's my current dilemma and I just can't figure a way around it without asking for help so maybe someone can pull this answer out of their arse for me LoL.

I'm currently running Froyo.EC05 and getting the nifty spamtastic message constantly telling me an update is available to Gingerbread (not sure what build). My problem is that I have my phone rooted and after all the work, seriously took approx 8 hours of guesswork and cord switching to get the phone recognized, well I really don't want to have to do that again.

My question is this, will my root carry over to Gingerbread if I do the update? All my apps and downloads like music and ebooks are backed up on my comp so I'm not worried about those.

Second question if the first is answered like I think it will be, is there a way to shut off that constant reminder on my phone? It's getting down right annoying and I really don't want to update if I have to re-root the damn thing right now. Anyways, any help at all is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

1. No you can't accept the OTA update to GB. It will fail on install

2. You can flash a custom ROM from Froyo right into GB and retain your root and CWM recovery. There are many to choose from. Starting with basically stock ROMs with a few patches/mod fixes but still retain all bloat, etc.. to more advanced customized ROMs.

3. There is a way to shut it off, I don't have the link handy but you can Google "fotakill" I think is the correct name. Its a flash able in CWM that will disable the OTA update notification.
