Kanex Passive MHL Cable?

So I just picked up an Onkyo TX-NR616 which comes with an MHL port on the front.

That's pretty exciting to me since that means I don't have to use the useful (yet annoying) MHL to HDMI dongle, and should theoretically be able to connect the GNex straight with an MHL cable.

Thing is, in all my research, I've only discovered one passive cable -- Kanex Passive MHL 10 foot Cable

Does anyone have any experience with this? Have they tried it out with their MHL compatible devices yet? I'll take the plunge and give it a try if no one else has and report back on my findings, but it's always worth checking to see if anyone's got any alternatives worth recommending.

Thanks!

Posted this on XDA a while back, no response. See link here (Kanex Passive MHL Cable?)

I use it, and you won't have any regrets. Even supports 7.1 surround sound. Its pretty great, and really worth it. :D

Thanks for the recommend, I jumped on it. Didn't appreciate the $8 shipping charge, but what can you do. Looking forward to testing it out and providing feedback :p

Cable came Saturday, which means it was 2 day shipping. That was nice, at least.

Seems like a good quality cable. I'm finishing up my surround sound redesign this weekend, so I'll give it a whirl once I have the Onkyo setup again.

Cable works flawlessly. Damn nice not having to use the MHL to HDMI converter and having a million cables everywhere. Best thing so far till Wifi mirroring becomes more commonplace.

The order page for that cable seems to imply that the TV must specifically support MHL also; is this correct? What type of TV are you using it with? I have a Sharp Aquos that I bought last year...

As stated above, I'm using the Onkyo TX-NR616 receiver, that specifically comes with an MHL-ready port. I do not know if your TV will work. Google and Good luck.
