Kaspersky virus scan issues.

I will admit that I am brand new to rooting, but I've done my reading. I have the 64 bit drivers for my laptop, but when I go to download the "one click root" from megaupload.com that Sheep posted in his "first time" post, my Kaspersky virus scan kicks it back as a trojan.

Of course, I can turn it off and download anyway, but I recently spent $200 cleaning out a virus my Kaspersky DIDN'T catch, so I want to make sure I'm not getting myself in more trouble.

Has anyone else's antivirus kicked back the one click download? The dates that it made Kaspersky's hit list is Oct 2010, which is after Sheep created his post, so I just want to make sure someone didnt corrupt a good link before I proceed.

As usual, thanks in advance, and I couldnt play with this kind of stuff without your help.

Anything that Roots your phone will be viewed as a virus.

I can appreciate your concern. There are no gaurantees but I can tell you that AC devs and posters like Sheep won't steer you wrong.

+1 on that Consider SD, Adrenyline, DroidXcon, Jeakar, and GunnerMike (my apologies for anyone I missed) trusted sources.

I DL'd that file myself some time ago..I've seen other threads where folks had the same issue with the oneclick file blowing a false positive.

BTW don't hang you hat on one antivirus program, I use 2, but only one is resident.

Just another +1, you dont have anything to worry about with that file

Technically speaking, the root process is exploiting a security hole, which is exactly what a trojan does. But this is not used to steal information or plant a virus in your system, so nothing to worry about. Disable the antivirus during the process and reenable once you are done

I've run the file myself, and I've bounced several virus scanners off it with no ill reports. It just looks like a virus since it's granting access to software that isn't supposed to have access to granted.

I can even state that as a Kaspesky user, I turned it off to do my rooting, and I've had no issues at all.

Thank you. I was about to root last night, and had the same error. Makes sense...

I had trend micro flag and autodelete the rage.bin file. Very annoying false positive. So I have to disable trend root my phone in adb then re-enable it.

Thank you guys:) I kinda figured this would happen after I thought about it, but the confirmation that I'm not getting ready to brick my laptop again takes a load off my shoulders (and keeps my wife off my back...) Again, I appreciate all your help.

+1 on that Consider GunnerMike trusted source.

Are we talking about the same GunnerMike who chases sheep :p and bricks phones as a hobby?:) Just don't trust him when he says something like "Can I borrow your phone, I have a new winkle that I want to try?" :D:D:D

And watch your sheep. :):):):)

You don't have to watch your sheep, you have to watch your pie. He's obsessed with it and will snatch any he can :D
