I continously get the extract error but from what I understood reading around this method has never worked correctly for optimus v(did alot of searching).

Try downloading the files again, and try again.

you can always order one off eBay, my mom got her V for $41 with S&H.

You are using the wrong cab file. Make sure you use the one asadullah recommended, zv8. He put a link to it in the thread. When you run it the first time it will give you an extract error. Look in the folder where you placed the .kdz file and you will find a .cab file with the same name. Delete the .kdz file then rename the cab file to .kdz. It took me almost 12 hours yesterday, but I finally got it.

I got it to work now it thinks it's sprint lol I'm stuck on the stock reocvery though :/

Wipe the cache and data then reboot. After that you will be able to adb a new recovery onto the phone where you will be able to install whichever rom you want

Tried it pc just stays at searching for device shows device name as recovery .Just continuously boot loops to recovery never to full rom.I'm think flashing the sprint oS update.zip might let me boot into an actual rom.
