Kensington Keyfolio Pro 2 Universal Keyboard Case for 10" Tablets Review
THis is my review after using the above listed BT keyboard case for my Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. I've only been using it for an hour or so, but I'm really liking it so far. THe typing is fluid and smooth, the keys responsive. THe keyboard keeps up with my typing and doesn't lag behind. IN this respect it's very good.
AS you can see by my review so far, it has one problem which I noticed in another review and on some reviews on other keyboards. IF you look at The Beginning of all my sentences, it seems when you hit the shift key at the beginning of a sentance, it prints the first 2 letters are Capitalized. IF you Notice in this Sentence and the others where I capitalized words in the middle of the sentence it doesn't Do it. SO something is up with that.
ANother thing to note is that not all the Android Shortcut keys work on the top row of the keyboard. THis was also noted in a review on amazon, but for me they all work except for the f2(Gmail/email shortcut) and the f3(Internet shortcut) keys. THis is not a major problem for me as the keyboard is inches away and all the others work.
THe keyboard itself is great, super thin and held in place by magnets, so you can remove it if you don't want it with you. IT connected right away to my galaxy note, well, actually after I unpaired my Logitech BT Keyboard, which was still paired to my GN.
THe case is nice, has a fully velcroed top portion to hold the 2 sets of rubber corners that come with it. I'm using the smaller corners, not the big set, although the big set doesn't block any of the screen, but does block the S-Pen. EVen with the small corners on, it holds the tablet well, but even though I can see and access the S-Pen, the corner is covering just a smidgen enough of the part of the S-Pen you put your fingernail under to pull it out. I've worked around this by just pulling the right side of the tablet out of the corners(which is easy enough to do) and pull it out. THere is also a small loop in the crease of where the Folio case bends that holds a capacative stylus or may be tight enough to hold the S-Pen. If you're worried about the corners on this not being sturdy enough they are and hold the GN fine. THe Folio case itself is about 1 3/8" thick with the tablet and the keyboard together in it. IT's not super slim and not really bulky, imagine carrying a textbook or something. IT also has an elastic band to hold it closed by flipping over to the other side, like some regular folio cases. The case adjusts to many levels from almost upright (not quite 90 degrees) to if you take the keyboard out of the case and put it in front can go much lower. THe keyboard is attached by magnets and fits right back in no problem. THere appears to be a strip of velcro along the bottom/back of the top part of the folio that adjusts out to different angles, this holds it in place.
OVerall, accept for the annoying beginning of each sentence problem, everything else I like. I will have to contact Kensington and see if there's a fix for this or if there is an app that can fix this. So far it's the only annoying thing about this KB case. WIll suck to have to go back and edit everytime I write a long email or document or something on a forum. Except for the two minor deficiencies, the double capitalizing at the beginning of each sentence and the two Android Shortcut keys not working, I give it 4 stars out of five. REally like typing with it.
NOTE: Even if I wait about 10 seconds after hitting the first letter at the beginning of the sentence, it still comes out two capital letters.
*****Good news is found out how to solve the double capitalizing at the beginning of the sentences online. I'm a fast typer. So if I hit the shift key and the letter key at the same time, I get double capitals at the beginning of a sentence. Like now, it's Not happening, because I'm hitting the shift key first then typing the first letter(not both at the same time). When I do this, as you can see, no double capitals at the beginning of the sentence. So glad for google and the internet. Just so full of knowledge and help. So folks, looks like this one might be a keeper for me. I will attach some photos for you to see. Hope this helps some people decide if you're up in the air about a keyboard case. I much prefer these hard keys, to the many silicone cases advertised online and this kb has some spacing between the keys also. Just as an added note, found a good spell checker app in the play store called Spell Checker by FlipDog Solutions, LLC. *****
