Kensington Keyfolio Pro 2 Universal Keyboard Case for 10" Tablets Review
THis is my review after using the above listed BT keyboard case for my Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. I've only been using it for an hour or so, but I'm really liking it so far. THe typing is fluid and smooth, the keys responsive. THe keyboard keeps up with my typing and doesn't lag behind. IN this respect it's very good.
AS you can see by my review so far, it has one problem which I noticed in another review and on some reviews on other keyboards. IF you look at The Beginning of all my sentences, it seems when you hit the shift key at the beginning of a sentance, it prints the first 2 letters are Capitalized. IF you Notice in this Sentence and the others where I capitalized words in the middle of the sentence it doesn't Do it. SO something is up with that.
ANother thing to note is that not all the Android Shortcut keys work on the top row of the keyboard. THis was also noted in a review on amazon, but for me they all work except for the f2(Gmail/email shortcut) and the f3(Internet shortcut) keys. THis is not a major problem for me as the keyboard is inches away and all the others work.
THe keyboard itself is great, super thin and held in place by magnets, so you can remove it if you don't want it with you. IT connected right away to my galaxy note, well, actually after I unpaired my Logitech BT Keyboard, which was still paired to my GN.
THe case is nice, has a fully velcroed top portion to hold the 2 sets of rubber corners that come with it. I'm using the smaller corners, not the big set, although the big set doesn't block any of the screen, but does block the S-Pen. EVen with the small corners on, it holds the tablet well, but even though I can see and access the S-Pen, the corner is covering just a smidgen enough of the part of the S-Pen you put your fingernail under to pull it out. I've worked around this by just pulling the right side of the tablet out of the corners(which is easy enough to do) and pull it out. THere is also a small loop in the crease of where the Folio case bends that holds a capacative stylus or may be tight enough to hold the S-Pen. If you're worried about the corners on this not being sturdy enough they are and hold the GN fine. THe Folio case itself is about 1 3/8" thick with the tablet and the keyboard together in it. IT's not super slim and not really bulky, imagine carrying a textbook or something. IT also has an elastic band to hold it closed by flipping over to the other side, like some regular folio cases. The case adjusts to many levels from almost upright (not quite 90 degrees) to if you take the keyboard out of the case and put it in front can go much lower. THe keyboard is attached by magnets and fits right back in no problem. THere appears to be a strip of velcro along the bottom/back of the top part of the folio that adjusts out to different angles, this holds it in place.
OVerall, accept for the annoying beginning of each sentence problem, everything else I like. I will have to contact Kensington and see if there's a fix for this or if there is an app that can fix this. So far it's the only annoying thing about this KB case. WIll suck to have to go back and edit everytime I write a long email or document or something on a forum. Except for the two minor deficiencies, the double capitalizing at the beginning of each sentence and the two Android Shortcut keys not working, I give it 4 stars out of five. REally like typing with it.
NOTE: Even if I wait about 10 seconds after hitting the first letter at the beginning of the sentence, it still comes out two capital letters.
*****Good news is found out how to solve the double capitalizing at the beginning of the sentences online. I'm a fast typer. So if I hit the shift key and the letter key at the same time, I get double capitals at the beginning of a sentence. Like now, it's Not happening, because I'm hitting the shift key first then typing the first letter(not both at the same time). When I do this, as you can see, no double capitals at the beginning of the sentence. So glad for google and the internet. Just so full of knowledge and help. So folks, looks like this one might be a keeper for me. I will attach some photos for you to see. Hope this helps some people decide if you're up in the air about a keyboard case. I much prefer these hard keys, to the many silicone cases advertised online and this kb has some spacing between the keys also. Just as an added note, found a good spell checker app in the play store called Spell Checker by FlipDog Solutions, LLC. *****

Here are some pics I took of the Kensington Case for you to check out the GN in it. Sorry, not the best at taking pics at night.

You'll see in this pic that the thickness of the rubber corners keep the keyboard from touching the GN's screen. I have a screen protector on mine, but also you could put a microfiber cloth between just to be safe. I don't think you have to worry though.

Propped up to type with.

Stylus holder is tight enough for even the S-Pen or a rubber tipped stylus also.

Apologize for the blurry pic on this one.

All in all, I really like this Keyboard Case. Hoping it lasts for awhile. There is no perfect case out there, that I've seen for the Note and a keyboard. They all have some kind of comprimise with something. If you don't like the thickness on this case, there is an Expert case that Kensington makes for Android/Windows Tablets, that may be a little thinner. That case holds the tablet differently and the folio is not as thick or as I felt, would not protect my GN as well. Hope this helps anyone looking for a BT Keyboard Case for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.:)

Thank you so much for the great review and pictures; plus passing on your reseearch finds in our PM's. Hope this one IS the keeper!

How well does the case function without the keyboard? Does it seem to fit well if you leave the keyboard at home?

Wow, I can't wait to get out my BT keyboard and see if I can learn to hit the shift and then the letter I want capitalized as a sequential action rather than at the same time! Super hooray to you for figuring it out!!! I just figured I'd live with double caps! Many many thanks! and I love the review. Andy, would it be too much trouble to get a pic of how the velcro is used to adjust the position of the slant? Plus, I seem to have lost the ability to upload pictures in a response. I have to be blind and not seeing the icon or something. Anyway, thanks bunches for the detailed review and figuring out the double caps issue! I can't tell you how that will increase my use of using the Note for important documents since I won't have to worry about editing things! :-*

I hereby certify you a genius! I love being able to use my blue tooth keyboard and only getting Capitals One At A Time When I Want Them!!!! Just SUPER!

J, I didn't figure it out. Saw it on some forum about another keyboard which was having the same problem and others were asking about it also. I read a review on another silicone keyboard doing it also. Someone mentioned about trying that and I did and it worked. So helped to know that. I still hit both at the same time from my years of typing, but I'm starting to remember to do one key at a time now. It's funny how it doesn't happen in the middle of a sentence, but only at the beginning. Weird!

Well, maybe you're just spreading the genius around, but I still appreciate it a LOT. I looked for a solution when I first got the keyboard but never found it. Glad you did!

Hey nice review. I will add that control + f2 (mail icon) did not work on my pad either. Also with a stylus in the holder when closed it hits the bottom of my pad so I took a small thin mouse pad and put it under the pad with about 1.5" hanging out the bottom so it covers the stylus when the case is closed. I can also pull it out and use it with a mouse as a mouse pad.

Is there any Kensington keyboard that'll work with a Samsung Galaxy 2 phone? It seems since it's an Android device and has Bluetooth, it'd work but I can't get mine to.
It'd make messages so much easier on the road without a laptop.
