I have a Galaxy Note 3 whose keyboard/touchscreen is behaving like a hyper active child. I can't get past my unlock screen because it types what it wants with out anyone touching the screen. When I was able to get it to unlock it would open/close/activate what ever apps it wanted. Any help would be appreciated. I can't unlock it to even tell you what version of the firmware it has, and I don't want to do a factory reset with out having the chance to back it up.

This is one is tough cause it could be a couple of things but not being able to get in limits the things you can try. While I know this is going to sound basic, but have you cleaned the screen? A micro fiber cloth is the way to go if you have one. If not a tee shirt will work and I wouldn't necessarily get it wet with anything for this, just polish it up so that you know it's clean. These screens can be sensitive to oils from your hands or face, and while they may not look bad to us, we kind of get used to the smudges and what-not, it could be enough to cause the screen to misinterpret our touches. Although if I'm reading you correctly it's doing input without you touching it. If that fails you can try touching the screen while you input. So touch the screen at the top or bottom and see if you can use your other hand to input with out it going crazy. It's like your distracting the screen while it's not looking your sneaking in.

What I was going to suggest is that once you were in you could try to calibrate the screen. On the One under Language and Keyboards>Advanced there is a calibration tool for the keyboard. Your device may have one as well.

Also if you get in I would disable the lock first thing so that you are at least not locked out. Speaking of which if you get in and can disable the lock I would also turn on USB Debugging. This will allow you to use a program on your computer to view and input with your mouse versus touch. It could at least make the things you want to do as far as backup and transferring data easier. This video will show you how to use it.

Ok,

Got it unlocked. Its version is 4.4.2.
Tried cleaning the screen. No luck.
Touching the screen while inputting is not working.
Now that its unlocked, it just opens Apps when it wants.
I can't find the calibration tool on the Note 3.

Google it, there may not be one on the note. Even so if it's opening apps without input it may not be a calibration issue. Open the app drawer and see what app it opens, close the app and open the drawer again and see if it's one consistent place/location on the screen or if it's random. If it's consistent in one spot you may have a hardware problem if it's random or not related to the apps even being displayed you could try clearing caches and reducing memory load by deleting SMS MMS messages. Beyond that I'd say it's back to the Play Store to start reading reviews of recently installed apps. If caused by an app others will be posting complaints. Check back if you find anything.

I had a case that caused my phone to do this... The case put to much pressure on the edges of the screen and it would just go crazy.

This used to happen sporadically on my Moto Droid RAZR, though usually only when it was lying on a flat surface. I would look down, and notice the lock screen going crazy. As soon as I picked it up, it'd usually stop. Never did find out why. Glad you're getting your replacement.
