Hey Droid-heads!

I've pre-ordered, and will be picking up my 1st android phone on the 4th. (BIG shout-out to HTC and Google for making such a bad-@$$ phone.) Although this is my first Android phone, I've been keeping my eyes on Android since the early days, before they even had an active carrier (almost switched to T-mobile for the G1). At any rate, I was sucked into getting a Pre before the Hero came out for Sprint. So this will be my first Android-Platform phone, and I couldn't be more psyched!

Enough about that.

My question for the forum is, is-there-an-existing, soon-to-be-coming, or eventually-coming, either Bluetooth or micro usb keyboard peripheral available for Android phones? I understand there would have to be drivers for this to be possible. I'm not as familiar with the android homebrew community as I'd like to be. I'm curious if this has ever been done or if there is enough demand to warrant it. With the massive screen and kickstand on the EVO, it seems to me that a keyboard peripheral would enable this devise to become even more usable and potentially become a replacement for even more devices (ie netbooks, tablets, etc...)

I'm hoping there are enough people like me who think this would be useful. Let me know what you think!

There is apparently an app that adds Bluetooth keyboard support. I don't know if it will work with the Evo and I believe that it also costs money.

Here is the link

well, we don't know if it will work for the Evo. It should, but you really should have waited and not jumped the gun. It does look like a nice keyboard though.

There were a couple of guys using it on the Moto-Droid. So if it's working on there, I can get it working on the EVO. I'm a developer myself, so if all else fails, I have a side-project to do. :)

Since we are already talking about it here, I have the Palm Bluetooth folding keyboard.
I am at work so cannot check but I think it is this model: Amazon.com: Palm 3245WW Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard: Electronics

Do you guys think it will work with the Evo?

This was kind of asked in another thread but not about this specific one. Before I get flamed on why I would want a separate keyboard when the Evo's screen is 4.3" bla bla bla.... because I do!! i:Di

Right corner of your text box. It says Thanks, next to quote, multi-q, qr and then Thanks.

Thank the guy that pointed out the cable too.

You need 10 posts for thanks to appear (which they just got) so it probably wasn't there yet.
Also, this is a pretty neat thread. I'd be interested in results as the palm bluetooth keyboards didn't work with the palm pre.

Hmmm... Tempted to try this. BTW, if you go to their website, they have a list of compatible devices already. You can search for those individually ahead of time.
