Kies will no longer connect for me. My phone 'sees' the PC and the webpage tries to load but this is all I get:
Any ideas? I stopped using Kies because it was so slow but I think I will need it to update to ICS when the pigs start flying.

You don't use Kies Air to update your phone. You plug your phone into your computer and run Samsung Kies.

OK thanks.
I've been using AirDroid to transfer files between my pc and phone. Seems to work pretty well so I haven't missed Kies until read about ICS may not be an OTA update and I would have to use Kies.
I'll download the PC version and try it with a USB cord.

I had the same problem. I was using a cable from a charger I had.I tried a different USB cable and it worked.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Android Central Forums

Try uninstalling java and then reinstall a fresh copy.
EDIT: also try using Google Chrome instead of IE.

I get the following message when connecting to Kies: "Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies". I have used different cables and used both the back and front USB connections.
I have unistalled and reinstalled Kies several times and still get the same message.

Skyrocket does not update its firmware through kies, ICS will be OTA...
At least not with the current one, if samsung decides to push ICS via kies, they will make a new version of it available around the same day the update goes live, but I think that will not be the case here in the US.
You use kies to do other things like backup/restore files and/or configuration settings. Sync music, photos, files, memos, etc.

Good Morning All:

I tried updating my skyrocket this past Friday & also got the message "Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies".

At that point I called AT&T.

1st thing the woman said was ICS update won't be OTA but done via Kies PC.

So I replied if that's true, why I am getting "Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies"?

She replied she didn't know but would happily have a tech call me between 3:30pm & 7:00pm Saturday to get the update.

As is always the case with AT&T they NEVER keep their committments. I rearranged my entire Saturday afternoon & evening schedule just to make sure I was available to take their call & guess what.

THE CALL NEVER CAME.

It's actions like this that cause paying customers like myself to look for a different carrier.

I've done some of my own research into Kies PC because I figure it's the only way other than these boards to get answers.

I'm guessing that Kies won't do the update because it's missing two pieces of information.

If you open kies then go to Tools then firmware upgrade & initialization it's looking for two pieces of information. The S/N number & model number off the phone.

After you put that info in you get this message.

The device can be initialized to its original settings. All settings and data will be deleted, and the latest software version will be installed. Do you want to proceed with firmware upgrade & initialization?

I don't want it wiping out everything on my phone I just want it to upgrade the OS so I've said no at this point until I know everything isn't getting wiped out.

So until AT&T decides to call I'm stuck. I may take the phone over to the AT&T store in the mall & se what they have to say.

Getting this update has become a real chore. Beginning to wonder if its worth all this hassle.

Spring.

You can always backup all that information on your phone using backupmaster, or whatever program you prefer your SD card isn't touched during software upgrades

I am guessing that when the ICS update goes live that they will also update what the supported versions of the firmware are. That will make the phone list as being supported (and that there is an update).

Woman from AT&T left a msg. on my phone saying that the ICS update won't come from them but from Samsung.

That being the case, Kies will have to be updated so it works with SGH-I727.

Am about to get my phone and have installed Kies so I can sync all the music and ringtones in iTunes with my new Android phone. The problem I've seen is that when I go to import from iTunes I have to do ONE tune at a time which is crazy. I guess the best thing to do is create one play list and select all the tunes and then import the playlist to Kies. Is this the best way to do it? I also notice Kies is a HUGE program and has really caused a lag in my WinXP laptop booting.

i tried to use the leaked updates fro the skyrocket to update my phone and i connected it to odin and clicked start then it said pass after like 2 seconds and now my phone won't switch on or work or even connect to kies

on the top right of my phone in small :
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I727
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL

then there is a picture of a phone and computer with a yellow triangle within which is an exclamation mark

under this picture it says:

FIRMWARE UPGRADE ENCOUNTERED AN ISSUE. PLEASE SELECT RECOVERY MODE IN KIES AND TRY AGAIN.

i tried connecting my phone to kies but it wasn't recognized kies kept saying connected for like 1 hour and still didn't connect

ANY IDEAS PLEASE I WOULD APPRECIATE THE HELP SO MUCH!

I followed directions form AT&T for the ICS and did everything on my laptop. When opening Kies its does take a while for it to recognize my phone. I can not figure out how to get it to back up my apps. I don't even have a link for apps under the store tap. All I have is podcast

i tried to update my samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket with the new ice cream update and when i hooked my usb up to my PC it said this device is not supported. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem??
