Kindle Reading App Question

Hi - I have a question about the Kindle Reading app on my Asus TF700. When inside the app and I try to go to the Kindle Store, just goes into a Kindle Store that is built into the reading app where as on my Samsung going to the Kindle Store prompts me for which browser I want to use to go to the internet to see Kindle books. Is there any way to get the Asus to access the Kindle Store the same way as the Samsung? Both of the tablets are running the same version of the app as well as running Apex Launcher. My objective is to allow the reading of books on the Asus but not the purchase or browsing of books on it. Is there a way to do this? I've contacted Amazon and they were unable to help me. Thanks.

Welcome to Android Central! You could try going to Settings/Apps, selecting Kindle, and tapping Clear Defaults, if available. Then try again.

Did the Kindle app on the TF700 come preinstalled? Some of these preinstalled apps might be modified a bit--so perhaps the one on your TF700 will insist on some preinstalled Kindle store, while the Samsung defaults to the web.

Thanks for your reply. It did come pre installed on the Asus but I did update it to the same version as on the Samsung but still had the different response as I mentioned.

When you say it goes to the Kindle Store built into the reading app, do you mean that it's built into Kindle, or is it built into some Asus marketplace kind of app? On my TF300T, there's Asus Vibe, which is this big media store--I disabled it, because I never use it. If you have something like that, consider disabling it in the Settings>Apps>All menu.

Thanks again for your reply. It looks as if it is built into Kindle. When I talked to Amazon they talked as if that were the norm but not on my Samsung.

And you said the Kindle app on your Samsung is one that you installed yourself, right?

Thanks - I actually can't remember but that gives me the idea of trying to disable the preinstalled one and downloading it directly from the playstore. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.

That might not work. If it's the exact same app, it will show up as Disabled in Google Play, with the option to reenable.

Sorry, no other ideas. At times like this, I wish I could actually test things out on your device myself ...
