Updated just fine; no problems. Keep in mind one person does not necessarily define "issues" the same as the next. Especially on forums which tend to attract worst case scenarios and large amounts of hyperbole.

Granted, I'm sure there are legit issues from time to time, but I bet dollars to donuts that at least 50% of the posters who are reporting any given issue as germane to an update have a whole other host of apps or other settings we'll never know about that are the real culprits.

Re: KitKat Uodate... Yes or No?

I did find this link for those of you who are having battery issues after the KitKat upgrade and want to try it. How to solve battery life problem of Moto X after KitKat (Android 4.4) update - Moto X Phone Owners Community

What that article describes is essentially a battery recalibration. In the days of my rooted Droid Incredible, clearing or resetting the battery stats would do the same thing.

I held off for almost a month and after a week of being reminded and putting it off for another 24hours over and over, I installed the update. The phone has been essentially identical in terms of performance/battery life. I only experienced a decrease in battery life after installing the recent active display update. and after removing the update the phone is back to normal.
I'm on Verizon..fyi

I understand what you mean about how issues posted on forums can be misleading but I am being cautious since I just got my Moto X. I had a similar issue with my Galaxy Note 8 and had to do a factory reset after the update to get everything working again. No big deal but just playing it a bit safer with the X since I am using it as my daily driver this week until my sim card adapter comes in so I can swap between it and my Note 2.

I have my Moto X on the charger right now and am contemplating the update as I watch Arizona State and Texas Tech. (Wreck 'em Tech) ;)

Re: KitKat Uodate... Yes or No?

I went ahead and did the upgrade. I should see some fairly heavy daily use this week so it will be interesting to see what kind of battery life I get. I am used to my Note 2's excellent battery so the Moto X has some big shoes to fill.

One interesting thing to note; when I did the repeated tapping on the Android Version 4.4 tab, I never saw the spinning K that I have seen in some videos. In fact, it took a few tries to even come up with the red Kit Kat screen and then the mosaic. The first few times it just showed a dim version of my background.

Re: KitKat Uodate... Yes or No?

I am having one issue after the update. The twist your wrist to activate the camera is not working correctly. I have only been able to get it to work once since the upgrade. Before that it would work every time but I was trying to show it off tonight and it was a no go. I got it to work once later but have been trying it over and over all night and it still won't turn on.

You are twisting quite fast twice, right? Chris

Re: KitKat Uodate... Yes or No?

I updated to Kit Kat as soon as it was available to me .The battery seems the same ,so no decreased battery life for me.I have been on Kit Kat since November 19th.

On the Moto X it isnt a spinning K but a spinning 1

Re: KitKat Uodate... Yes or No?

I don't have a Moto X but maybe try a reboot. Might be something off with the accelerometer our gyroscope or whatever it is that influences that.

I don't get the spinning 1 either. Just shows my wallpaper for a few seconds before going to the red KitKat screen.

The phone turned off while in my pocket this morning too and was hard to turn back on.

Re: KitKat Uodate... Yes or No?

Don't get me wrong, I really like this phone but I just want it to work properly of course. This is my 4th Android phone and I have not had any issues with the others, just trying out different phones to see what I like. I want to use this one in conjunction with my Note 2 so hopefully these little issues will get worked out.

Re: KitKat Uodate... Yes or No?

I got the quick camera access to work again by going into the camera app, turning off the quick twist feature, rebooting the phone, going back into the camera app, turning the feature back on and rebooting one more time. Yay! :)

Re: KitKat Uodate... Yes or No?

Of course it starts acting up again when I try to show this cool feature once again. No issues before the KitKat update. Grrrrr :(

Re: KitKat Uodate... Yes or No?

I am. I have had it since last Saturday and it worked every time until I upgraded. Now it is sporadic but seems to work right away for awhile after I reboot.
