how much attention and praise will the HTC One continue to get once KeyLime Pie arrives?

I'm personally waiting on a black one for tmobile but the idea that it may not see KLP for a year.... and it's being said that KLP will be a major update makes me uneasy :-\

It sounds like we're getting 4.3 Jelly Bean at Google I/O and KLP this fall.

ahhhh I see now! well hopefully it'll be easier to upgrade

I don't see the reason why KLP can't come faster. Sense 5 is already a near stock experience. I actually like it better overall than stock. So updates should come pretty fast.

I just got my my One this afternoon, and at the risk of sounding stupid, what is KLP?

Key lime pie is the next version of Android after jelly bean. It seems like its gonna be more jelly bean until fall though. HTC and carriers are very slow with updates no matter how easy it is to push it out so I wouldn't expect fast updates for the One.

Right, all current evidence points to Jelly Bean 4.3 being released in May and Key Lime Pie following in Q4 on Nexus devices. Updates to OEM and carrier devices would be delayed behind those dates respectively.

HTC has said they will release two updates correct me if I'm wrong that means both of those updates would be to the next two jelly bean versions and we won't even get key lime pie at all.

I don't think that's right; at least I hope it's not. I would assume they skip 4.2.2 all together because 4.3 is scheduled so soon. That would put 4.3 and 5.0 on the radar and be not only more beneficial to HTC, as it buys them more time to do releases and gets them more bang for their buck, so to speak, in terms of feature updates per unit hour invested in transforming it into Sense; but also more beneficial to the consumers, which increases their potential customer loyalty and branding, as well as increasing their reliability reputation in this regard with potential future consumers. I could be wrong, but I would see that as their best move.

I would expect a completely new device from HTC that is built with new HTC sense skin on top of key lime pie next year. These Android updates are a selling point for newer phones so it would make sense for them to do KLP with the next HTC flagship phone while giving the HTC One 4.2.2 and 4.3 Jelly Bean.

HTC has staked basically their entire company on the One. I would hope such things are a priority for them. Even a rough survey would have to highlight that as a concern.

That being said it is still on the carriers who can delay for months to get their unwanted bloatware versions ready. In the past htc hasn't had much pull with them especially AT&T.

The bottom line has always been if that is your top priority stick with a nexus.

There will probably be klp based roms for it long before an official release happens.
