the battery works perfectly, should i change it and why or could it be repaired.

If it's swelling you need to change it (and I would even go as far as suggesting you stop using the phone until you do so). A swollen battery means it's been ruptured or damaged, and it is at risk of bursting, leaking or catching fire. Don't risk it.
