Lack of App/Game Support

What's the deal with so many games/apps not working or showing up in the Play Store with the EVO LTE? Does it have to do with developers not making their apps compatible with EVO's chipset or is it just a matter of them not certifying their apps to work on the EVO? It's rather annoying to find many apps show up in the play store for my original EVO but not the LTE.

I know I could root and probably find a way around but I shouldn't have to, considering how powerful the phone is.
