It really bothers me that I cannot seem to remove the new received message alerts that scroll or show up at the bottom of my home screen, without having to deal with no vibrate or sound to alert me to the fact that I have a new message? If I choose not to have it come up on my home page in notifications, my htc sprint hero doesnt vibrate, flash nor does it make a sound. can someone please help me fix this? i hate it when my kids want to play on it and im scared to let them in case an "unsavory" joke or msg comes in from a friend.

Well if you go to the "messages" app and press menu, there will be an option to go to settings. Once you are there, you can scroll down to the bottom and uncheck Notifications and so when you get a message only an icon will display at the top of the status bar.

Problem solved

Only thing i can think of is an app called SMS popup and it pop ups on top of whatever you are doing. You can set a custom tone for specific contacts but it will show your message. Im sorry i cant give you what you are looking for..

Maybe someone else can put in their input..

Okay.. adley, i2, Thank you both so MUCH! I love LOVE chomp!! it's so much better than handcent!!!! It solved my problem promptly, and I am very pleased! Now I just need to surf around and find some "Must have apps." Any suggestions for apps are greatly appreciated! I am absolutely loving my HTC Hero now! Such a HUGE step up from my Palm Pixi.. (that I only used for 3 day's before it started wigging out) and the Samsung M520 that I had the past 2 years!

File manager get Astro, you can see whats on your SD card and it is in a folder view

Bluff my call for prank calling people, you can change the caller id number of phone when calling someone else

What the Doodle, a fun pictionary game that you play over the internet...tons of fun
