Be aware, no mobile office app. You have pay for it on market.

Also, if you must have an encrypted device for work purpose, there is no native file encryption in andriod. My work just posted this week they are not allowing Exchange server sync since no file encryption. They didn't bother sending out a communication so now I have a device I can't use for work. Grr don't want iphone or windows mobile device.

It's Android. No need for "native" encryption when you have a choice of many different GPG/PGP applications. Choice always > what manufacturers force on you.

APG - Android app on AppBrain
+ k9 is a 100% secure exchange solution. It's key based OpenPGP, same as any *nix version.

And since the source is all available, if your company is serious about email security they can easily make their own solution.

The iPhone does not offer on disk encryption either, so hopefully they are not allowing iPhones. Also, WinMo devices never did this.

Blackberry was built from the ground up to do this, but I don't know of any others that work this way out of the box. Maybe WinMo 7 will. Oh with BB, you pay lots of money for a BES - so no Exchange connection.

we had to download and install TrustDigital or something like that and they don't support android. But it looks like they might since McAfee just bought them. Maybe hope for me yet as I really like this phone.

Actually I just searched for Quick Office and there was a Quick Office for Captivate - for free. Maybe AT&T/Samsung realized they forgot it in the build.

Works great for viewing!

dont know if its still available but you can get quickoffice for free if you look on the market from the captivate. its the full version that allows you to edit and view docs.

yes I just downloaded.

Admin, can you change the title of this thread to indicate now available?

BTW, Touchdown for Android now offers encryption for Exchange Sync, so you can be full compliant and sync Exchange from Android.
