laggy stock messaging app

Hey everyone. I have been noticing some lag in my stock messaging app, mainly going from the conversation screen into an actual conversation and vice versa. I have the animations in developer options turned off, as well as s voice and probably other stuff. Any of you experienced android users have any advice to make it a bit snappier?

Switch to CM10.1, as long as you can stand the bugs.

Either way, lag within the TouchWiz messaging app is due to the fact that the ROM activates ALL of the special features the S4 has. If you can, try turning off the unimportant ones.
