Am wondering if there are any landscape docks for the CDMA Verizon nexus? I would really like to use the pogo pins. I know about the gsm dock that was 90 bucks and the mods to make it fit the CDMA nexus but I don't want to do that. I'm really looking for something for my night stand that will charge and allow me to listen to music even if it is out of the nexus speaker. any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated!

Unfortunately I don't know of any landscape dock specifically for the VZW Gnex. I modified the GSM one and it works flawlessly. I know you don't want to do that, but it is a quick 5 minute Dremel job. Very little modification needed. Makes a perfect night stand charger and has audio out if you have speakers.

I also use the car dock in my car but that can be used on the desktop too if you wanted. I had to Dremel that a bit more to get it perfect though.

It sounds stupid but it really is nice to use the pogo pins instead of having to plug in the cord. Saves wear and tear on the usb port too. I really liked the inductive charging of the Pre and this is very similar in terms of convenience.

I recommend giving the mod a try. It is worth it. A while back, you were able to find the dock cheaper on 3rd party sites. I will see if I can find where I bought it and update later.

That would be great. Could you also link me to the directions you followed? I'm nervous about doing it since I've never used a dremel before. Maybe if the instructions are really easy to follow I'd give it a try...

Yeah I can help you out. I didn't follow any specific directions but I did take pictures to document what I did to modify it. When I get to my desktop later on I can post them. Should be all you need.

I had purchased the dock from mobilefun.com back in September. It was the cheapest at the time but it does take a long time to receive it.

Sorry it took a while to post back to the thread. here are some guidelines below.

DISCLAIMER: It is obvious but figured I would state it anyway - this is going to void the warranty of the dock. So if the dock doesn't work or it fails a week later, wherever you bought it is probably not going to take it back with it modified so you will lose that money.

That being said, it is a very easy mod and it has been working flawlessly for me since September.

Using a dremel, start on the left side and grind it down in the groove. The key is to grind it down in the bottom corner so the phone sits all the way down to the pogo pins. The right side should not need as much taken off. Shave that down until the phone sits evenly and makes contact with the pins. You will confirm this when the homescreen goes into landscape and it says it is charging.

Some notes about the dremel. I used a small bit with a rounded top (see pic). This makes it easier to get into the corners. The plastic is soft and will grind very easily - I used about 40% spindle speed on the dremel. So just do a little at a time and keep testing it with your phone until it is right.

See attached photos for finished product and the dremel bit I used.

Good luck!

Wish I had read this thread before shelling out $40 on eBay for a new EDD-D1F2BEGSTD, which turns out to be the dock for the GSM phone. I noticed right away that the phone would pop up out of the dock on the left (phone bottom) end, the end the pogo pins are closest to. When I forced and held it down into the bottom of the dock it would change into dock mode, so I knew it was a close fitment issue. Rather than dremel it out, I hit each end with a hair dryer for a couple minutes to soften-up the plastic. Then I used some brute strength to push sideways on each end to stretch it out a bit. This worked well enough that I can use the dock with the Verizon LTE phone, but it's still a pretty snug fit; it doesn't just drop in...I have to push it down. I suspect if I continue to work on it a bit I might be able to reshape the soft plastic to loosen it more. But it's working and that's all matters.
