Laptop to Tablet

So I am new on here but I needed to find a good forum that can help me decide if I can make the jump from laptop to a tablet.

Since I have gotten out of school, I do not use my laptop for much anymore. I used to need a machine to run multiple VMs and other various things like that. Now a days I really just use it to surf the web, play games online (flash games, not like diablo) and watch movies and TV shows. I do have a netflix account but the vast majority of my movies and stuff have been downloaded onto a hard drive. I know there are some tablets that come with full USB support but would they support a 2 TB NTFS external drive that has an AC plug for power?

I have thought about using Ultra Violet for my movies but at the cost to convert them over would be way too much to be feasible. I want a tab with a microSD slot so I could always put movies and stuff on that but is there an app that supports .AVI files?

Any word processing and stuff like that can be done on Google Docs but I do also have the paid version of Quick Office if I need anything above Google Docs. Also any music streaming could be done via Google Play and Google Music so I have that covered.

I have been looking at either an ASUS Transformer tab or maybe the Galaxy Note tab when it comes out. I am not looking to make a move just yet, my laptop is working fine I am just thinking for when I need a new laptop. I really have not done as much research as I would like just yet but any info would be greatly appreciated.

I would not say no to getting a Windows tablet but I don't have any experience with the Windows Phone OS in general so I would be uneasy going to an unfamiliar platform to replace my laptop for good.

I am excited for the windows tablet myself. Wished they would have announced it a few days before i bought this tablet, not a few days after. I may have waited.

I have an Acer A500 10 inch. Great tablet, it will do everything you need and has an hdmi output.

I did look at the Acer tabs, before I started looking I thought they were the only ones that had the full USB drive but that is not the case anymore.

I saw some connectivity videos with the GS3 and it is kinda doing everything I wanted my tab for. I still really wanna pick up a tablet but the need for it may not be as prodoment as it was before.

I have not touched my laptop in three weeks. The only thing I use it for now is transferring movies to my tab or S2. I don't play a lot of flash games, but if check to see if the games you want to play work on Dolphin HD. You might even find games in Play store better. I am up to 31 games.

The only thing I can think of that would entice me into buying a windows tablet is that they would be easy to throw away.
