If anyone waited till today, remember today is the last day to pre-order your Samsung S3 to keep your unlimited plan. I think anyone that pre-ordered from Best Buy should cancel and order direct from Verizon, to keep plan.

Yup, I'll concur with that. Everything I have seen indicates that ordering from Best Buy will NOT keep your Unlimited Data, not sure about other Authorized Resellers, however. But I would preorder direct through Verizon just to be safe, and tell all your friends that this is their last day EVER to use an upgrade without losing grandfathered Unlimited Data. Remember the rest of society doesn't keep up with this type of stuff as much as we do, and a reminder would likely be appreciated.

Yeah, I called my sister and told me to pre-order the phone today for me as well. I am not as hyped as many of you are about the phone (Problems with my Charge, Nexus and hopefully NOT the SG3) but I figured I might as well get the newest phone before they try and kick me, even on our employee line, out of unlimited data. Asses.

The other safe way to do it is to keep your per-order at Best Buy and also do a pre-order direct at Verizon. If your new phone still does not show up at Best Buy for pick up next week, then cancel it at Best Buy just to play safe.

If it shows up a BB after tomorrow I would think people are out of luck.

I cancelled my pre order with Best Buy yesterday 6/26 and pre ordered direct from Verizon. I'm not taking any chances. Shipping date 7/11. 32GB white.

Originally I placed my pre-order with Best Buy on June 5th for the S3. After receiving many validations from Verizon Customer Service and Best Buy about retaining my unlimited data plan, I decided not to take any changes. My order is now placed with Verizon and my unlimited data plan is assured. Now we wait!:)

Just a nuance here, but as I understand it, you'll be able to keep your unlimited plan after today, but if you do, you'll have to pay full price for future phones (or switch to the other plan when you buy a new phone).

Yes, Kalnel, that's how it works. We can all go order GS3's tomorrow if we want, we'd just have to pay full price if we wanted to keep our unlimited data. If anyone accepts a Verizon subsidy on an upgrade after today, they are forced off of an existing unlimited data plan.

Please - If you have preordered from Best Buy and have a Verizon provider, order your phone thru Verizon before it's too late. I just did this morning and have just now cancelled my order with Best Buy. Best Buy's manager just confirmed with Verizon that we would lose our unlimited data if we remained with the original order. Our local Best Buy wasn't even aware of this till I brought it to their attention. Thanks to all of you for the heads up!

I caved in and ordered one about an hour ago. I was going to go with a Rezound since I've always bought HTC phones in the past and liked their build quality and UI, but decided to take the plunge and try something new. Don't let me down, Samsung.

You can always flip it for cash if you don't like it

Might as well make that last subsidized phone count for something ;)

Do you get charged the full amount of the phone when preordering on Verizon's website, or when the phone ships?

Can anyone tell me if this will keep my unlimited data?

I want the phone however my line isn't eligible for the upgrade. If I do the upgrade on a secondary line and then at a later date do a hardware swap I should be able to keep my unlimited data because technically at that point i own the hardware and it would have been the same as buying the phone outright.

I just went through the process myself to see what it would do and it was about to charge me right there on the spot for the whole price of the phone.

I spoke to Verizon CS and the woman said the phone's price is charged when it ships. When I asked about the activation fee, she said that was charged when placing the order. So I can only assume that I'll get $30 charged immediately, and $199.99+tax on July whenever. The tax is what kinda kills it for me (tax on the retail price), so I wonder if I'm better suited waiting to pick up an unlocked phone on Amazon? Are any of those currently on there (like this) work on Verizon with no issues? Any suggestions on where the best deal for an unsubsidized S3 will be?
