My Google Now "Discover" feed is lit up like a Christmas tree with Pixel 3 news. I love the leaks and anticipation for Oct. 9.

However, I came across some Canadian news about skus and prices in CDN dollars showing that the Pixel 3 64gb model for 1099 (850 USD).

My first thought was Flossy's famous line about overpriced phones.

Then I came across a BGR or Forbes story posting a photo of the 3XL retail box contents. The wired Pixel buds were in there. Which leads me to think....just what if that higher cost is for those Pixel buds? They're not the $150 wireless ones though.

There's no way a Google can go from a $649 P2 to a $849 P3 right. That's nuts.

Are wireless charging, an additional front facing camera, and Pixel buds worth $200 extra?

The smaller pixel 3 better not be $849, if so strike the pixel off my Xmas list.

So from past history, does the exchange rate directly translate to the final prices Canada sees? IIRC some countries across the Atlantic sell for prices that aren't directly tied to the exchange rate. Or am I mistaken?

Does anyone know if Canada currently has tariffs on US electronics like smartphones? If so, that could explain it.

While I understand there are more extras from the Pixel 2 to the 3 then there were from the Pixel 1 to the 2, those things don't translate to $200. For sure Google's cost isn't anywhere near that, so I doubt, with all the flack they've caught over the pricing on the Pixel, would they want to exacerbate the issue?

That would be awesome if it was the same pricing as last year.

Wireless charging isn't new and 4gb RAM isn't the buzz nowadays either. The sd 845 is standard and the design is just catching up. The real value is in the software.

I'm expecting big things from Google on the software side. Things that are useful and relevant to a great user experience.

Remember.....

I bought a pixel 2 XL a few weeks ago at Best Buy to try out.
No ear buds.
It was 849.00

I'm scared to see the price of the 3XL if it had ear buds.

Took my wife to Best Buy Saturday and she got some Taotronics wireless earbuds for 24.99 that she really likes.
