Ok why do these apps need to request to read contact data? Specially launcher pro, it requests read/WRITE contact data, internet history, bookmarks??? I mean, I know its free, but I'm starting not to like this whole open source thing, rooting and customising.

Well remember, they are launcher replacements with custom widgets for different things like contacts... boookmarks... they kinda have to need to read that info to operate.
