I have used it before and thought it was very good on the Samsung vibrant. Highlights several things one of which was the way it allows me to scroll the apps Vertically.

I am trying to use on the myTouch but I just don't see any benefits I have the mytouch already settled in I am not using a lot of the garbage so it looks very vanilla very good

So my questions or this number one what exactly would be the benefit of using it on the myTouch what kind of improvements could I see?

Secondly when I do turn it on and have it as default I hit the home key in the lower left-hand corner of the my touch and it switches me back to HTC sense why is that and how do I keep it from going back

Again thank you for all of your help

i'm kinda in the same boat.. i got comfortable with the htc sense ui.. but i'm going to see if i will get comfortable with adw, i like that the bottom bar is gone (or at least customizable now) and that the icons don't have a square around them and some things are resizable.

to stop it from switching back to htc sense, what i did was go to manage applications -> all -> HTC sense -> clear default

I use Launcher Pro Plus. I honestly couldn't see myself ever using anything else. I used to like the traditional htc Sense found in the Evo, Hero and a few others. Then I switched to Launcher Pro and I never looked back. As far as the myTouch version of Sense, I actually don't like it at all. The only thing I do like is the notification pull down has some good quick info, but that's it. I think it's WAY too skinned. The myTouch is already very fast, but I did notice that when running LP on my gf's MT4G it was noticeably faster and smother. I also love the 3d drawer. Which brings me to the benefits of using LP. Options. TONS of options. You have the ability change the amount of rows and columns on your homescreen (so you can put more icons on each homescreen), change the amount of homescreens you can have from 1-7 and even pick which homescreen you want as the main page, it enables landscape view for the homescreens which is something you can't do with the stock Sense launcher (HUGE plus with the Evo because of the kickstand), it has a scrollable bottom dock where you can choose 5 actions and icons for each dock (total of 3 docks), in the dock you can enable a missed call count, unread SMS count and unread gmail count if you have the dialer, text and/or email as an action on the dock), you can pick what the home key action is: Do nothing, open/close previews, open/close app, open/close notifications, show/hide status bar, choose a custom dock background, hide the top notification bar (think the Windows bar where you can hide it until you need it), hide the homescreen icon labels for a cleaner look, option of a traditional app drawer or a 3d app drawer, change the speed of the app drawer opening and closing, has 6 Sense knockoff widgets available with the Launcher Pro Plus (since you can't use the Sense widgets) including: bookmarks, calender, messaging, twitter, facebook, "friends" (friendstream), the ability to backup and restore your homescreen and homescreen settings. This is extremely useful if you're like me where you're always changing things up to see if there's a better set up. I've literally spent hours making my own homescreen theme only to go back to my previous. It would have really sucked if I had to remember what I had and where they were and set everything up one by one. Instead all I had to do was tap restore, then yes and I was all set. The only things i had to replace were the widgets. It'll show you where a widget was placed, but wont have the actual widget up. One last great feature is the ability to resize ANY widget. That's great when you need just one more spot to squeeze something in but can't because a widget is too big. Of all the features I listed, the only two things that require the paid Plus version, are the LP widgets and the widget resizing. But let me tell you, those 3 bucks were very well worth it and I would recommended it to everyone. To be honest, neither version of Sense (or those terrible other launchers like Touchwiz or MotorBlur) come even close to Launcher Pro. Give the free version a shot. I can almost guarantee you'll like it more than the stock launcher.

For you HTC folks Launcher Pro might be a debatable upgrade. I could make a strong argument regardless of platform.on my DroidX I couldn't possibly imagine any other front end. Launcher Pro and Folder Organizer are an inseparable duo!

I love LP.

I also use Smart Shortcuts to streamline most of my apps.

LP allowed me to get rid of that gawdawful pink for the mail and person icons as well. I dropped gray icons into my lower dock bar instead.

Damn dude, that's a pretty big paragraph.

I've been using mySense since release, and flashed the HTC Sense rom last night. I like them both, but they use up WAY too much RAM compared to CM6 or Stock Android. I'm going to switch to Launcher Pro later today and see if I like it.

How did you like it? I purchased Launcher Pro back on the Droid X and haven't gone back to it as I really do like the Sense UI so far. Trying to get a feel for how some others like it in comparison.

I bought Launcher Pro Plus about a week ago and I LOVE it. I really like how it has built in widgets and I can change the size of them.

how the heck do you activate Pro Launcher? I installed for a widget app which I have since uninstalled but I would like to tinker around with pro Launcher to get the feel of it. I see it in my applications list under settings but can't seem to figure out how to switch over from HTC sense to Pro Launcher...yes I am fairly new to android....

There is a Home Switcher app in the market you can use to go back and forth. Also, Launcher Pro is the purchased version with some additional features, so to unlock those, you need to shell out some $$$.

Or am I thinking there is a Plus version??? I'm confused, but there is a more feature rich version.

thanks! i will search the Home Switcher app out.

Go to settings, applications, all, find htc sense, clear defaults. When you click home it'll give you the option to use launcher pro.

The plus version is awesome. I use it and love it. It's the first thing I install when I flash a rom.

On my Vibrant I loved LP however on my MT4G I can't bring myself to use it because I love how the clock flips to the right time and the weather animations that hit after you wake it up. Is there a way to keep that if I switch to LP? I purchased Beautiful Widgets when I had my Vibrant but don't use it now because of the wake up feature.

The switcher is called Home Switcher for Froyo. I have it to switch between Launcher Pro and ADW, but I don't need it anymore. I realize that Launcher Pro is way better than ADW.

I put Launcher Pro on my MT4G and took it off after about 30 minutes. It did wonderful things for my Droid X, but on this phone, it just wasn't needed. I know if gives you some extra widgets and the 3-D apps and some other things, but it wasn't worth it. The Sense UI on this phone is even better than the version on the Incredible I had. I haven't even added any additional screens over the 5 because I'm so content with the default interface. To me, it's just that damn good.

Thank you laser and j b. I am in the first hour of the nexus and absolutely loving it. This truly is a piece of work and for anyone worrying about not having an sd card or a hdmi slot they are foolish. As you have said you 2 had the mytouch and I had the my touch ivo and vibrant and this

In response to your response about using watcher pro the only question I have about getting home switcher for froyo was because when I used it on the my touch it kept switching back from launcher. pro back to sense ui

so far not a problem in the world like that with it using the nexus s thank you very much

Chynaman. I had the mt4g. But what wake up.feature or clock flips are u speaking of. Way back in the beginning of.the.post, with me.being the OP I have to say that the main problem was. It was switching from launcher pro back to.sense. but very easily home switcher for.froyo.fixed it

Launcher Pro may not be needed for Sense phones, but I definitely enjoy it on my Droid X. It makes the phone so much better than anything else on the market.
