There is no best for everybody and you'll get a number of answers. For me though Nova does what I need..

Before you decide on a launcher, try Action Launcher. It has changed how I android.

Try Apex Launcher

GO launcher both have premium good themes ..

It's like a cocktail party with a snack table. Sample all the free ones (uninstall those that get an immediate "no") and then decide. What's perfect for one may be terrible for another. I use Nova and it's not slow on my phone. Some people even like the Galaxy Launcher (which is the downloadable version of TouchWiz - I can't stand TouchWiz).

It is going to always come down to opinion. Personally I didn't care for z, and zero launcher. Action launcher is nice, but I dislike the inability to customize the app drawer button position. Apex and Nova are about the same, so very few differences. Like Rukbat said, you need to try each one out.
