Ok I've got a plain old XT912 running 4.1.2

I have some third party apps but not many. My phone is slow, sluggish, laggy and down right angry with me most of the time. I've restarted, gotten rid of my apps, wiped the partition cache, all to no avail. My battery life also stinks.

I'm thinking of trying to root my phone. Could that solve my problems? If so, is there a good all in one learning guide? I know I don't know enough to root my phone yet but I'm reasonably computer literate and I'm willing to learn before proceeding.

Tips, tricks, links, and words of advice would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

PS I've already read a couple of articles here about to root or not and several on other sites as well. I'm pretty well versed in the risks. Ie Voiding the warranty and bricking the phone.

Root could probably help. You would be able to remove bloat apps that could be slowing down your phone. As for battery life, you won't see a big difference unless you flash a custom kernel that allows you to change your CPU's clock speed.

Rooting alone won't help, unless you take the previous advice.

If i'm not mistaken rooting will only enable us to configure our devices as deep as possible according to our own capability.

For rooting your phone guides, try to visit xda forums. I can't give you what exactly I did, since I was coming from XT910 ics. But as to high-level that would aid you
