Is there supposed to be an LED notification light on the Captivate? I noticed two little physical "anomalies" on the top, left, front of the phone, but neither one lights up.

I hate that I have to physically check the phone after every moment without it to see if I've missed anything. A notifier would really help.

Thanks,
Lis

One is the light ambient sensor and the other is the proximity sensor. The Captivate does not have an LED notification. You can download No LED from the market or BLN. BLN lights up the capacitive buttons when you have a notification.

Edit - I think you need to be rooted to use BLN, but I am not sure.

Yeah, it is surprising (to me at least) how many android phones have no notification LED.

NoLED uses a bit of battery keeping the screen on.
Backlight Notification requires an i9000 kernel, which usually means an i9000 ROM (Anything except Cognition). If you have a custom ROM loaded, you could get BLN, which is probably the best solution.
