I could be wrong, but I don't think that the Nexus 6 has LED lights.

It actually does, one is located behind the top speaker, but Google didn't enable it. With root, you can and with an app like Light Flow you can have it work. Or a custom rom like Cyanogenmod.

At least is does on mine.

Does the LED blink?

No blinky. Just stays on.
Can choose color and for whichever alert you want.
Blue for text, red for calls, charging, etc.
Love me some CyanogenMod.
