So I finally decided to try but when I called Samsung Promotions they said in order to get the $425 off the Note 8 I had to receive a promotional email with a link. I received no such email. They checked their email list of Note 7 owners (I am on it!) but said I could not do the deal without the promotional email I never received.

Then they gave me this suspicious sounding email address to send Note 7 proof of purchase and my personal info to receive the promotional email again with the link.

Is this legit?

Hmm, well Zendesk is a huge customer service company and they do a lot of outsourced deals with big companies to manage promotions and help desks. It seems legit to me. The seaecomm.zendesk.com domain name is listed in some Samsung emails.

My suggestion is to call Samsung again and see if your given the same response with the same email address to send it to. Make sure you're calling Samsung. Thanks.

go here Special offer for former Galaxy Note7 Owners | Samsung US

put in your email, and begin your purchase. you will see the trade in value for all the eligible phones go to $425.00
See, that's where it gets tricky. I called Samsung. She said Samsung Direct was making some exceptions to the list for former Note 7 owners. I have a Note 3. She gave me a number to call for samsung direct. The guy said yes they are and gave me a case number so that I would get 425. That's when he said I had to use the link in the email I should have received 2 weeks ago. Did any of you receive such an email? Anyway I didn't so he said to send proof of note 7 purchase to the email addy I listed above then they would send me the promotional email to make purchase but I don't see how the automated process would know the note 3 was ok'ed for 425.

Did anyone receive the promotional email about this prepurchase deal about 2 weeks ago. He said each was personal and did not mention the general one on the sammy website.

I don't know if Samsung Direct IS the same as Samsung.

You should of seen something like this from samsung@innovations.samsungusa.com.

Mine went into the junk area. As you can see in the picture. I will have to fix that tonight when I get to a pc. Yours may have too. I just searched for Samsung.

I never recieved an email like that. Won't be hard to prove I bought it because I bought my note 7 through Samsung.com. plus when I ordered the note 8 they immediately showed me with the $425 discount. Not just registered with them but bought the note 7 through them.

But I will not be surprised if something is different from what I think.

If you have a Samsung phone look in Samsung+. If you had a Samsung account every Samsung phone you ever had shows up. On my S7edge both Note 7s show up. When I went to the above mentioned address and put in my email they knew me from the start and I was able to complete my purchase

I don't think you're going to get the full & 425, for a Note3. My v20 wasn't in the list. But maybe I did something wrong while I was scrolling.

I called back and both reps at Samsung Direct said Note 3 is OK because they are waiving that requirement but I'm not going to do it.
#1 she said I must send my proof of purchase to the weird email addy I listed earlier with name address phone number (in other words everything u need to steal an id)

#2 when I purchase from the link THEY send me (cannot use regular link everyone else is using - why)

#3 When website asks which phone I am turning in pick S5! She claims it doesn't matter. They will still accept the Note 3. I just know if they don't I have lied on a website (choosing S5 is a lie) so I am basically committing fraud. I don't need a phone that bad.

weird. never got it

I never got the email... but I saw the promo on the forums and decided to see if I was eligible... and put my email, I was eligible... So I guess they didn't send to all of the former Note 7 owners.

My Note 7 is listed in my account and I probably also qualify on the Samsung website but it is a different link so maybe they won't take the Note 3 and the direct from email link will? She was very insistent that I send in proof of purchase even though on Samsung website promotions it even shows the imei of my Note 7 and that I received the free gift. I'm sure I can buy as you did and if I had S5 or newer I would.

There is just no way I am going to ignore clear directions. Choose S5 as trade in then send Note 3.
I'd bet my best sneakers a month after purchase they charge another $400 to my cc and say my trade in does not meet criteria. Then I call Sammy direct and have no proof whatsoever that they told me to ignore website directions. Even if they admit it I'd never get the refund.

Sometimes discretion is the better part of honor. I just don't want to pay 940 plus tax plus lose my Note 3. Like I said me choosing S5 is fraud. I don't care what they say.

Thanks to everyone for your kind help and suggestions.

true, you have a special circumstance, sounds like you already have the promo set you jist do t have one of the phones. you could always buy a iPhone 5 on eBay for about $70 and trade that in for the full credit $425. then sale your note 3 on eBay for $75.00. I know it's alot of steps but hey you get a new note for $500

I never received the email, I just found that link by Google searching it and entered my email that way. However after reading this thread I checked my promotion inbox in Gmail and what do you know the email from Samsung was in there!

I just checked and I am eligible. I put my name in the website and got the confirmation email and link to purchase. I am so tempted to try but I know if they charge me the extra 425 plus tax later I wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Yes, customer service gave me the same. What until you use your credit card & see a weird charge to your card. Digital river handles the charges.
