I've been out shooting a lot of pictures with my Pixel 5. Overall, I have been impressed with the image quality. On many images though, I am seeing lens flare. I seem to remember that being an issue with my first Pixel XL, but I think Google solved some of that in software. Anyone else seeing lens flare with their Pixel 5 - or maybe it's just my specific device.

I haven't notice much lens flare even shooting against the sun. Do you have a case? You should try shooting the same shot that causes flare without a case as well to rule it out. I had an issue once with a case j was using back in my pixel 3 days.

I do have the Spigen Liquid Air Armor case on the 5, but it looks like the case outline of the camera array wouldn't get in the way. That is a great suggestion though - I will try pulling off the case next time I see the flare occurring. This particular shot was with the sun about 60 degrees up from the horizon directly behind the sign board. All of the lens flare shots I experienced were when shooting right into the sun (sometimes unavoidable). Anything with the sun off to the side is fine.

For me I think it has to do with the thickness and material and it would somehow gloss and cause that for me. Worth checking before you start looking to deep into it and keep spinning your wheels. I'm going to try a few shots when it's sunny out to reconfirm that I don't have this issue then report back.

It's not a fix for the phone itself but if you're shooting with the sun directly above, you can always move your hand over the top of the phone and the lens flare will disappear.
