For those that don't know, Sprint officially announced that the EVO will be getting Froyo starting on August 3rd.

As an Incredible owners, whose device came out before the EVO, I'm not really happy right now. Unfortunately, we know that the device update rollout dates are subject to the carriers, not the manufacturers, so the date is firmly in Verizon's hands right now.

I suggest anyone with a Twitter account to mention @VZWOffers (the official Verizon Wireless account) and say that you're not pleased that you're playing second fiddle to the EVO. If enough people cry out, maybe we'll get Verizon to announce a release date.

If the EVO was a Verizon phone, maybe I'd be upset.

But who knows the differences between the approval processes between Verizon and Sprint. One thing is for sure - there is no rational reason for them to withhold it a second more than they have to, so they must have a reason for not sending it out yet...

Verizon /always/ waits on releases. I'd be willing to bet more non-techies have the Incredible than have the EVO, and what happens if the update bricks the non-techies phone? They call Verizon.

In the end, the EVO Froyo update will see if there are any major problems. If not, expect Verizon to announce the Incredible update (or maybe just start rolling it out) very soon.

If you are so impatient, we've had the leaked Froyo build for two days now. Its great.

Totally disagree. They are watching social media much more than you think. I had one company call me based on a forum post that was linked to my device. They offered to replace it before I ever called them.

Froyo will make a lot of it work faster, make my battery problems less, and give me some functions I am missing.

Oh yeah, and it is expected to address call dropping as well, which makes it a BETTER working phone.

With that said, I can wait, I would just rather spec-u-late.

By your rationale, we should be waiting until the Eris, Droid, Devour, Hero, myTouch, and every other phone that came out before the Incredible gets 2.2 before we should expect 2.2 on the Inc.

Just relax. The update will be out soon. They've already "unofficially" announced late July/early August, that's good enough for me.

Those are last-gen devices. The Incredible and EVO are almost the same phone, except for a few differences.
