LG doesn't want me to buy a G3

I'm in Canada, and simply want to buy an unlocked G3. This doesn't appear to be possible. LG will give me no answer other than "you have to go to a carrier". They won't even tell me a list price. amazon.ca has some G3s in their market place, but they are listed as "import" or "no warranty". Disappointing. It looks like a great phone, but it appears I'll be buying something else.

If you buy a D855 (this is the international version) you can only use it on Bell and Rogers Wireless in Canada IF you want 4G speeds. There may be other carriers, but they have to support these bands: 1, 3, 7, 8, 20, 28, 40

LG does not sell phones directly so you have to buy through a retailer, like a carrier or many electronics stores. Most carriers can unlock your phone for you, but I am not sure of the laws in Canada. In the USA, they have to unlock it if you ask them to.

Also, I'm assuming you want the phone carrier unlocked and not the bootloader unlocked?

Hi ... From Canada here as well. I wanted one so bad about 5 months ago that I took a chance and ordered a new one from an on line store via e-bay. (knowing it wouldn't be warrantied likely.)

I got the international 855. I have unlocked phones myself before so was ready to do that if required but the international was already unlocked and “just worked“

So far so good. I'm on virgin mobile canada. And love the phone. If I can get 6 more months then I will consider my risk worth it as that would be essentially past the warranty point.

I know this was risky to order a phone with no warranty but it seems to be the only way to get decent unlocked phones up here. Keeping my fingers crossed.

BTW: the phone has been amazing.
