Howdy, been a while, i think that's good...

So the never ending issue of free space has come up again and the thing is a bit more tricky as I moved and I need more space for my phone and blah blah blah...

So right now i got around 170mb free space on the phone and like..enough on the SD card. The issue is downloading and as always I can never ever download anything , even if its like 30 mb application or something, because...notenufspéz. Today I wanted to download offline google maps for navigation when im nowhere near a Wifi and obviously i could not. Now bare in mind im not a techgeek and i spend nowhere near enough time with my phone to not be needed to come up here over and over again.
So i was thinking if its a good idea to use some android simulator like Andy to download the install file to the laptop, put it on the phones SD card and install it there. Basically i wanna install anything on the phone, ON my SD card even if involves my laptop.

Can it be done? i need offline google maps , or MapHere or something that helps me navigate around.

OH AND 1 MORE QUESTION :p

My phone got recently decoded, and the apps of my contract company still are on my phone and i cant uninstall them , help me...

First welcome to AC. Second the questions you are asking are probably questions that you would get better, faster, and more informed answers to over at XDA Developers site. There they are all about ROMs, rooting, and work-arounds, which it sounds like is what you are looking for. First to answer your questions, kinda. You could go looking for the apk files to the apps you are wanting to install and save them to your SD without any external device. You would simply Google the app, apk, download and see if it is out there. There are quite a few but this isn't Pokemon, you're not going to find them all. Someone smack me for making that reference. Anyway, from there you'd just have to have the space to unzip and launch the file. Your app installer will open up to install it but you may need to check, From Unknown Sources, in your security settings.

Just curious have you tried moving apps to your SD with your App Manager in your settings menu? Have you tried thinning out your music, pics and vids? Finally have you tried using an app like CClean from the PS? I know you can't install it but you could maybe temporarily uninstall something to get it on there, free up some space and install everything again.

As for your last question, I'm unfamiliar with "decoded", does that mean you're out of contract and therefore fell that you may do as you please with the device you now own? Depending on your OS you can disable some stock apps, I know that doesn't give you anymore room but it should allow you to not have to look at them, but to actually remove them you will have to root your device. Rooting is individual to each device, because it's actually a code breaking the OS to allow you to do anything you'd like, uninstall apps, install apps, do complete backups of the OS, files, and data, and a lot more. XDA is the place to find this kind of stuff.

Yeah hi, thanks for the quick reply ...

Uhm gona start from the back. Yea ..so technically i still in contract with that operator but when i moved i just brought my phone to a whatever phone shop and told them, "hey free up my phone" so they took out the card, did the code thing and i can use other sim cards in it as i please. Thing is, the apps it came with by default are still there, like an app for Soccer, Weather, their Cloud app etc, i dont use them, and they are all on the phone not the SD card, so they take up space.

I moved everything i could over to my sd card, no use, its stupid. CC cleaner will be next, i tell you how it went.

Guess I can then download the "pokemon files" to the laptop, manually put them on my SD card and try to install stuff there.

Gah i dont want a new phone but the low space on my f60 is dissapointing. + got some hardware issues now, looks like my phones headphone plug isnt realy connecting right to the phone anymore...and when i walk the music stops constantly and its annoying AF..T-T

OK what they did was unlock your phone. An unlocked phone works with any comparable carrier by changing sim cards. Rooting the device is completely different and much more involved. First you have to unlock the bootloader, then you have to use an exploit to circumvent the security for the locked portion of the memory, then working backwards you remove the lock and replace it with your own lock. Once complete you have access to all the root data on the device. XDA is where you'll have to go for this, if a root method exists for your device it will be there.

Upade:

So ye it was 'unlocking' that they did. Didnt think of that word.

So ...installed CC cleaner , didnt free up much space. (while it was installing, i noticed that it takes up about 3 MB of space and I was like 0.0 <--this lookin at my phone thinking 'if this little thing doesnt install while I have 220 mb of free space, ill get an aneurysm) Anyway it installed, but didnt help much.
On another note, i managed to download the APK file of HereMaps put it on my phone and installed it. Sadly it installed it on the phone and not the SD card, so I didnt move one inch further in my quest.
Whys android doing this....I dont get it..why cant we just choose where we wana install whatever? jeez....thinkof the poor 4gb people >:[
So ye still stuck...any app that lets me set where I install APK files?

If you're unlocked you're a good way to rooted. Go over to XDA and see if there's a root kit for your device or look for instructions on how to root it and then have at it. With root there's very little you cannot do. Be warned tho you're going to lose everything on your device the first time. All passwords, logins, settings, and the like but after you root you'll never lose any of it ever again. The greatest and most exciting thing about root, IMO, is the ability to fully backup your device. Something Android is desperately missing.

On a side note since they didn't disclose that the phone was unlocked there could be spyware or other malware on the device. Not to make you paranoid or anything but with root you can hide apps and perform background functions like leaving a door open where they could get your personal information. Sounds scary and spy vs spy and probably isn't the case at all but just be warned it can happen. While factory resetting stock devices wipe all apps from the phone this is not the case with rooted devices. By rooting it yourself you'll have an opportunity to get a real look at the device.
