Lg g pro carrier question

Hello me again, so I received my new g Pro. Today the carrier had some difficulties with the internet so they had to shut down for 10min to fix it. My phone automatically changed the carrier to another. I would like to know how to turn off the automatic switch between carriers since i do not wish to pay higher bills, i'm still a student. Any help will be highly appreciated Thank you
