LG G2 - Bluetooth - Track Information

I upgraded from a GNex to the G2 today. I was disappointed when I streamed music in the car and the G2 didn't send the track information to the car like my GNex did. I'm assuming it worked on the GNex because I was running the latest Cyanogenmod. Or am I wrong and it's a setting somewhere?

Re: Bluetooth - Track Information

I think it was (maybe who knows it might be car stereo dependent) - I come from a GNex and it never sent any info to my Panasonic AVH-P3400BH. Now my G2 sends random info. I usually get the length of the song and the slider moves in real time. Sometimes I get the artist, track and album and sometimes I get nothing and sometimes I get info from another song or app. I'd love to find out where it's pulling from (status bar, memory, ?). But the G2 can send info via Bluetooth.

Re: Bluetooth - Track Information

I noticed tonight the info randomly shows up on the stereo then goes away. So it is capable, it's just buggy. Thanks for the confirmation it's not just my stereo or phone.

Re: Bluetooth - Track Information

I've noticed the same bluetooth issues as well that didn't exist on my GNex with 4.3 Hoping we get the update soon.

Re: Bluetooth - Track Information

I have to say the g2 have been the best Bluetooth compatible phone I have owned yet, works great with my JVC Bluetooth stereo now I can actually pause & play music when before with my galaxy note 2 I could only play & pause wouldn't work , also works great with my Nokia headphones ... could just be your stereo

Re: Bluetooth - Track Information

Just to add to this..
I have noticed that on songs that are stored to my internal storage comp up on the display.
It seems to be that only songs that I'm streaming from Play Music do not show up on the display. If they do its only for a few seconds.
Anyone else notice this?

I've noticed that the track length and progress show up but not the artist or song name. Oddly enough, the skip track functionality only works on internal storage songs. This is using Spotify with local songs that aren't included in their catalog.

Re: Bluetooth - Track Information

Had a new one last night. While listening to Google Music, I can skip tracks etc with the steering wheel controls as before. But the song info will show only sometimes, and usually only for a few seconds. Played a book through the Audible app last night and guess what showed up on the car stereo? The last song I had been listening to in Google Music. And it showed the whole time I was listening to the book. Steering wheel controls did work in Audible as well. I think it's just a bug in the phone.

Re: Bluetooth - Track Information

Just another side note.

I use zedge for my ringtones.
When I get a text, the name of the notification shows up on the screen, until I change the song. Then it either says unknown or the track id

It's not a bug in the phone. Same happened with my gs4. It will show last song played until you skip and then refresh to current song but if you listen through to next tracks it continue to show the original track you started with until you manually skip with car control

The weirdest part is that I was not using Google Music right before I started Audible. The leftover song information from Google Music streaming was from my drive into work in the morning. I've used the Bluetooth streaming alot previously with my Gnex and I got nothing but "unknown" until the latest CM which was Android 4.3. Then it worked perfectly. So I still think it's a bug in the phone. I don't see how my car would have held onto song information from being on 10 hours earlier that even persisted through being driven at lunch. I know it does not show that behavior when listening to XM. It shows nothing for a few seconds then shows new song info. I'm going to try again on my drive home. I'll try changing books in Audible and see if it eventually shows the right thing.

Brand new one. Got in the car started Audible and the radio displayed the name of my SMS notification. Restarted the phone and it went back to showing unknown. Halfway home got a text message and the radio went back to displaying what is pictured below. Odd.

I am having the exact same issue with play music where I get the track info for a few seconds and then it goes to unknown. One way to get it to stick is in play music while listening to a song hit the thumbs up button and the info will display the length of the song. It goes away as soon as the next song comes on. It seems that if you interact with your phone during the song, the info will stay. Very weird, would love to figure this out.

I've similar issues when using the stock player/Google Play/PowerAmp.

When I switched to the full Rocket Player, those issues pretty much went away.
