For anyone using the LG G2 mail client for exchange email, would you be so kind as to answer a some questions:
1) Can you select which exchange folders sync?
2) Can you view emails from all folders in a view. For example, Touchdown and HTC sense exchange have a view for all mail regardless of what folder they are in. Thus if you have server side filters you can see emails without manually checking each mailbox (nightmare). I'm not sure what the proper nomenclature is for this (unified mailbox for folders, consolidated mailbox...?)
3) Is there a thread view?
4) Can you get to the exchange email "draft" folder, and if so, can you edit/send from this folder?
5) Any issues with setting up meetings from the device itself and can you add people to invites after the meeting is setup? Again..I've had issues with other clients.
6) Can you format text (e.g. color/bold)?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I use the stock LG G2 email app for three email accounts (Gmail, a POP acct and MS Exchange). While I don't normally use my exchange acct as you seem to, I did check some of the features you asked about and will offer the answers that I can based on my use.

1) Yes, you can select just your inbox or multiple folders to sync
2) Not sure about this, I generally only sync my inbox folder. I did try a test for you and setup a sub-folder within my inbox and placed mail in it, then selected it as a folder to sync on the phone. However, when viewing my inbox mail, the mail within the sub-folder was not visible until I manually selected that folder to view from the folder list. I do not see an "all folder" or "combined folder" view option that would enable viewing of mail from multiple folders in one view at the same time.
3) No, does not appear to be a thread view option in settings.
4) Yes
5) No issues creating a meeting or event through the Exchange calendar, adding invitees and editing invites afterwards are no issue.
6) Yes

Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to run the test. #2 is disappointing so 3rd party email it is.

Hi!
Are you all sure about the first option to be able to select folders to sync, or you can just read those emails in case you enter into the subfolder? I tried it on other devices such as LG Optimus G, Samsung Galaxy 4, and Sony Xperia Z, but none of them offered the possiblity to mark the subfolders for automatical syncing. I know only HTC (even from a cheap phone Desire C!) devices, iPhone 4 and up and also Blackberry, to automatically check emails from marked subfolders, give notifications for receiving emails to those subfolders, etc.

I am very interested in this matter too, since I would like to buy an LG G2, as well. So I would appreciate a correct answer too.

Otherwise I can only recommend you to use Touchdown, which is very sophisticated app with all the capabilities you mentioned (thread view, etc.). I used it also when I had the good old HTC Desire.

Thx.

Correction for point 3: thread view is supported. In email app go to Menu - select Sort - choose sort by Conversation. Done.

Yes, sorry I totally missed that option you are 100% correct.

And to Attila Torok - Yes, when you have an Exchange account on the G2 you "can" select multiple folders to sync. In the settings for the account there is a "folders to sync" selection where you can designate one or multiple folders.

The G2 email client is also the only one I know of that allows you to add another email as an attachment when composing or replying :D

Hi, I am hoping that you may be able to help as I have a problem that fits nicely with the subject heading! I have a LG G2 and I use Gmail (for work and personal). I have set up Gmail and I have set up Gmail on the stock Email client on the phone.

The Gmail account is working fine, but, the Email client is downloading ALL emails from the date I first started a Gmail account (2011) and ALL the old emails dating back to 2011 are arriving in the email client account as UNREAD!! I have had the phone for 5 days now and the email arriving are still dated 2011 (as unread emails).

As they arrive I select them and delete them but there are 14,800 more to go and so at this rate I will spend the next year deleting these old emails before the client account shows current emails?

Any ideas as to what's happening, why are they arriving as UNREAD EMAILS? On Gmail itself I have a filter that archives all emails over 6 months old and so it's strange that the Email client on the G2 is even syncing emails dating back to 2011 :$

I have just noticed the subject mentions 'Exchange' so I hope you don't mind me asking this here, I am really pulling my hair out over this!

Many thanks.

For accessing Gmail accounts, the Gmail app is vastly better than the default mail app.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using AC Forums mobile app

Thanks, I prefer the layout in the default app but I can't continue with it as I presume downloading thousands of emails is zapping my data usage!
I will stick with the Gmail app as you suggest. Thanks again for replying.

I just got this phone from Verizon, and I think it's terrific. The native e-mail client is superior to what I have seen in Samsung and elsewhere, and I have configured several accounts (including my work MS Exchange account, Gmail, mindspring, etc.), and it works great.

My one question, though, is: how can I configure the e-mail app to default to open to the "Combined Index - All Accounts" viewing option, as opposed to opening to the single account I viewed last? Any ideas?

@wocius i don't suppose you have found an option to do this as I'm in the same boat - really need the Combined view by default.

Thanks

I only have my exchange mail set up but at the top of the screen within the stock email, there's a drop down box (mine reads 'inbox') that lets you select 'Combined inbox.' Doesn't that address your issue?

Anyone else having this same issue? - When I receive some new emails (not all), the stock email app automatically opens and interrupts whatever I'm doing. This causes me to go back to whatever app/browser I was looking at and is very annoying.

I know I'm bumping an older thread here but I have a question for you all.

My company just handed out G2's for everyone. We are testing against iPhone(which we've had for a couple of years). As an office we are having 1 issue with the exchange email accounts. When we forward and email from one G2 to a user with another G2 the original email message does not show up. I have an S4 as my personal phone and have it set up with exchange and there are some settings I messed with to make it work, but I do not see those options on the G2. Anyone have any ideas?
