lg g2 software update unsuccessful

my lg g2 is running android 4.4.2 and lollipop is getting ready to come out, however when i go to system update and check for new software. i get an error message saying software update was unsuccessful, says go to settings>system update and try again. anyone know why this is? using a verizon lg g2 on kitkat 4.4.2

Are you on Verizon service? And 4.4.2 is the latest KK for the G2... Dont expect lollipop this year on the G2, LG said the G3 will have it this year, that would be the unlocked non-carrier specific variant. For the G2 expect the unlocked version to get it first quarter, the VZW version to be submitted from LG to VZW for approval around the same time, and VZW to approve it and roll it out early to mid summer... Sorry, but that's just how they roll.

im using an unlocked g2 from verizon with tmobile. and when vzw rolls out lollipop next year, will i need vzw service to get it? or is it something lg will push out

It's pushed by Verizon. You won't get it. I luckily got 25b out of no where. But didn't get 26a. Put in a friend's Verizon Sim and got the ota.

You will not get it via OTA... You will have to wait until the KDZ or TOT is available and reimage the phone.

I am able to update it thru lg.com. It is now version 39A.
