So i realized or maybe I'm just missing it, that there is no zoom function on the default camera but i have ProCapture and it lets me zoom... So is the camera technically not supposed to zoom or what? I also don't understand why no one else has mentioned this because i couldn't find anything about it.

You can pinch to zoom (or whatever the reverse pinch move is called), but it's a digital zoom and not an optical one; most of the time the results will look rather pixelated.

I'd zoom in and crop after personally.

Digital zoom serves no benefit other than a telescopic viewfinder. Rule of thumb: never ever use digital zoom. All you are doing is degrading the quality of the photo. You should just take the photo at 1x and crop later. It will be of the same quality, but you can control what to keep or discard.

If you want a digital telescope, use digital zoom. Otherwise, stay away from it.
