LG G3: FM Radio over Bluetooth speaker?

I notice on the stock FM radio app that it asks for headphones to be connected before it will play.

I was hoping that it would consider being connected to my Bluetooth speaker as headphones but it doesn't seem to accept this. I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to play over Bluetooth? Is it my particular speaker/setup or is this by design for legal reasons perhaps?

The FM receiver uses the cables on the headphones as an antenna so they are required to make the radio work.
